Emma Thompson's Category is: Hippie Chic Realness
Manuel here. I'm gonna keep it short and sweet and let wonderful being all around Emma Thompson do all the talking since her outfits for the upcoming Noah Baumbach film Yen Din Ka Kissa are loud!
The film, as you may know already, stars Dustin Hoffman, Adam Sandler, and Ben Stiller (three actors whose gifts for dry humor and acerbic comedy one hopes Baumbach will mine to great effect; he's done it before with Stiller, at least). But really—and I know I'm breaching Actor Month rules here at TFE—it's Thompson who I'm most looking forward to since her pairing with Baumbach (and with those outfits) is pretty promising. That she's described her character as a "dreadful, passive-aggressive alcoholic" is just icing on the cake, and has me thinking we may be seeing the bawdy side of Thompson we so often get on red carpets but so rarely on screen. Which boho look is your favorite?

Will never forgive the Academy for ensuring Amy Adams is a five-time acting nominee over Thomas who remains stuck at four.
Thompson should be the next Oscar host. She is hysterical!
Thought that was Lisa Kudrow! Her recent stellar turn as Kimmy Schimdt's mom has kept her in my mind, and the whole outfit is so Phoebe imo, lol.
The one in the middle is my favorite cause it can actually be worn by people in my life.
I'd have to say the middle one, the colors work for her. And horrifyingly enough I've seen people walking around in very similar outfits.
I favour the middle outfit, she looks like a refugee from the 70s, and I love the hair.
Emma Thompson is one of the world's best actresses and is a British National Treasure.
Please let this comedy work (in spite of Adam Sandler) because she makes me happy.
This could be her fifth nomination getting her out of the 90's Best Actress winners rut. She needs a second Oscar for acting.
LadyEdith - She's not a Treasure for me I'm afraid. I'd stuff her face with cake.
I must believe people are ignoring this thread because they believe it's genuinely about her costumes. Emma Thompson is too brilliant to be causally brushed off for the sake of worshiping anyone else. Sort of disappointed this director is making a movie about men. Maybe Thompson's character will be the lone female lead or the most standout female of the cast since her character will likely be flamboyant to some degree.
Re: the Adams / Thompson comment, YES. This.
Sounds and looks a bit like Thompson's Professor Trelawney from the Harry Potter series.
