"Julieta" is one of the three films selected Today by the Spanish Academy to select their Oscar candidate. The oher two are "El Olivo" (The Olive Tree) by Iciar Bollain, and "La Novia" (The Bride) by Paula Ortiz.
And yes, "Julieta" is a great film, AlmodovarΒ΄s best since "Volver".

Bradley Cooper directing Lady Gaga in the A Star is Born remake? Wow! It's going to seem Barbra is back! I don't know about you folks, but I see a resemblance between the two divas. The nose, the eyes... Next up: Lady Gaga does Funny Girl on Broadway!
Julieta was such a disappointment. The more I think about it the less I like it.

Julieta is a wonderful, painful and extremely depressing movie. I've never seen AlmodΓ³var so D A R K.

I'm sorry to say that Julieta is such a diissapoinment. It's Almodiovar trying to be someone else (anglosaxon humorless bore). I'm one of Almodovar biggest fan (and I'm not just saying that) but stop with the "best Almodovar since..." that follows every new film. It reminds me of the way they market Allen films now: it's always "best since..." after a string of artistic and box office flops. Pedro AlmodΓ³var is depressed (he's said so in many interviews). He, that was such a witty observer of human nature leads now such an isolated life that he doesn't know how people act or feel in the real world anymore (that's my theory for his downfall). Have you forgiven him for I'm so excited? I haven't.
BTW my #1 is Law of desire, his best since.... LOL
