I know this likely belongs in the questions thread. But I don't feel like seeking it out to ask this. Should the Oscars move back to March?

I'm verrrrry much looking forward to this year's supporting actress smackdown. Viola Davis will win, but I have no idea how the other 4 performances will be evaluated. It's still a shame Greta Gerwig couldn't have snuck in there.

/3rtful: I've been pondering the same question. It would allow for all the eligible films to have settled in a bit, just as they used to be able to. But I worry that, with the multitude of precursors these days, the Oscars might end up looking like an afterthought rather than the main event. What's your view?

I hate how everything is crammed because the Oscars moved themselves up. I also feel the choices would change if the precursors weren't so bundled together in quick succession.

Me too on both your points.

I know there's so much Oscar talk this time of year, but it feels like we ought to talk about The Young Pope. Jude Law is actually in something good for a change, Diane Keaton gives a non-quirky performance, and there's a lot else to discuss.
