Congratulations to Fassy & Vikander?

By Nathaniel R

Sadie Sadie... Married Lady?

Rumor has it that Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, who've been dating for about three years, were married Saturday at a hush-hush ceremony in Ibiza...

Whether or not the power couple tied the knot or not (we're guessing they did or the denials would have already been released) they certainly look happy in the photos that are circulating. I mean look at these sunny toothy grins!

Of course they have a lot to smile about as two of the most in-demand actors working. Next up for Fassy is The Snowman this Friday and then X-Men Dark Phoenix next November. Next up for Alicia Vikander is Tomb Raider this coming Spring.

What would you give them as a wedding gift?

Both bland and overrated "talents". So a well suited coupling.

Fassbender is a glorified character actor lacking in charisma, who desperately wants to be a "movie star" (even personally producing a video game franchise in Assasins Creed to boost his box office appeal. Which failed). He carries flop after flop after flop, but keeps getting more chances to fail upwards. If he were a person of color, the leading roles would be over by now. I suspect his time as a leading man in movies is coming to an end.

Vikander is just forgettable. Like Fassbender, she has some acting ability, but no charisma. She dull, and that Tom Raider trailer reminds you why Angelina Jolie was a movie star, and why Vikander isn't. I just couldn't quite understand why Vikander had such a ubiquitous trajectory, even winning an oscar. Then I found out she was one of Harvey Weinstein's pet projects, and it all made sense.

Magnum XL?

I already married Fassy so I don't understand this post.

P.S. My dear, please stop shooting shitty movies. Call McQueen.

Kylo -- this just reminds me how subjective art is. I think there are very few actors as talented and charismatic as Fassbender working today so this dismissal mystifies me. To each their own I guess.

@Kylo: Harvey got Alicia her Louis Vitton contract as well. She owes a lot to him

Charisma is not THAT subjective.

Will Smith has charisma by the bucketload. As does Robert Downey Jr. Dwayne Johnson has charisma for days. Denzel, Clooney, Hanks, Leo....charisma. Even people who don't like some of these actors acknowledge how much charisma they have

Audiences are drawn to certain actors (regardless of talent level) because of a level of charisma that undeniable. Dwayne Johnson is a competent actor at best, but he's got far more charisma than more talented, award winning actors.

Studios do market research with audiences on stars/actors to test how they are percieved. When audiences hear Fassbender is in a movie, audience anticipation often actually drops. For audiences, Fassbender is not a draw because he has negative charisma. He's often stoic, but not in a way you can't take your eyes off him, like Clint Eastwood.

Fassbender has some talent. He can act. Not denying that. But particularly when he's not playing a "character role" where he has some sort of mannerism or quality that can make him seem interesting (like his Prometheous android), he just sort of radiates dullness. if he had the charisma you see in him, audiences would not be rejecting him so wholeheartedly as a leading man.

If he had the level of charisma you suggest, he'd be an out and out movie star. He's just a good looking guy that can act that's fashionable in casting circles, till studios start to realise his failures are costing them too much money, and he gets cast aside like Clive Owen, another guy they couldn't make happen

Charisma must be at least somewhat subjective, because I would never think of Leo as being charismatic. And I'm no Leo hater. I think Hollywood's most charismatic actor is Sandra Bullock. She has talent, too, but her charisma is through the roof.

Fassbender and Vikander both have talent and charm, and I wish them the best.

Again, the subtle, pernicious sexism of Kylo's response. It is fine to not like Vikander. For me personally, the only performance of her's I've really loved/liked is in Ex Machina. But to suggest that she only has her success by implying some sort of sexual seediness with a known predator is beyond gross. Women continue to have their success defined entirely as being "given" to them by a man. Don't like her, that's fine, it's all subjective, but stop dismissing women on sexist grounds.

I think Fassbender has charisma but it is an intense almost menacing sort of charisma. He doesn't radiate warmth or charm but then again he hasn't been given many roles that give him an opportunity to display those qualities.

Fassbender is too intense to be charismatic but I like him a lot, could do without him though in Alien movies and blockbusters.

I still have a grudge that Vikander won her Oscar too easily for an awful film, she's a lead through and through, she was better in another film and the competition nominated and unnominated was strong if you knew were to look hello Jane Fonda,Elizabeth Banks,Kate Winslet,Sarah Paulson and Cynthia Nixon.

I give it a few years.

David and Ava got married? I for one welcome these two sexy evil robots teaming up and taking over humanity. Congrats to them!

On a slightly unrelated but not really note, Steve McQueen was at their wedding and I'm just crossing my fingers Fassy and McQueen will work together again soon!

Why are people so bitter these days? :(

October 16, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterRicopolo

Maybe the perception of charisma is really subjective. I find Fassbender charismatic...there's something captivating about his presence (Macbeth, 12 years, Shame, etc).

October 16, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterJans

"Fassbender is a glorified character actor"

What does this even mean? Anyway, I think he's charismatic as fuck and a staggeringly great actor.

October 16, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterArkaan

Ricopolo -- there is a lot of that going around. I'm trying to focus on things that bring me joy lately because there is so much misery everywhere I look. These pictures made me happy. Alicia looks just joyous.

Hear, hear, Nathaniel. Positively positive.
