Random: Are you petitioning she receives an honorary after the Jackie Chan confusion of last year?
I GET TO SEE HER IN PERSON NEXT WEEKEND! :D
/3rtful - i have no idea what you're talking about
roger - fun!
Her snub for Jackie Brown is probably my #1 snub that makes me mad in Oscar history. Well, that and Evan Rachel Wood for Thirteen.
Her book was a great read.
The hero we need right now.
A true icon
Philip - Her in Jackie Brown is indeed a monumental snub. I didn't believe you at first when you said that!
Evan Rachel Wood was a snub for sure but not NEARLY one of the worst. She was not 'Genius' like I'd consider Grier or Thurman in The Kill Bills or Watts in Mullholland Dr. or many more.
Huh - For sure, I didn't mean for it to be a universal thought, just my personal feeling lol. I was born in 93 so Thirteen hit me really hard as a a kid and is one of my favs and the only reason she's one of my biggest is because I thought she was great, and had precursor support (Globe + SAG), and they seemed to just replace her with Keisha Castle-Hughes as the "young nominee." haha
For me, Naomi Watts would be the biggest but it wasn't really a "snub" since she had no precursor traction. That's why Pam Grier and Evan Rachel Wood are it for me because they were strong performances and also clearly very much in the running.
Pam Grier hurts me because it's my fav QT film because it's so smart, and without her star turn in it it wouldn't work. And you know, black actresses aren't exactly given awesome roles like that all the time. I mean, where has she been since? Sad.
Pam Grier's snub for Jackie Brown is absolutely criminal. She should have WON! And yeah, her and Liv Ullmann get my prayer circles for Honorary Oscars. It will be really hard not telling her this next Saturday.
