Naomi Watts Gets Randy with "Gypsy"

Chris here. Just because it's Tony's week doesn't mean we've got only one Gypsy on our mind. Have you forgotten about Naomi Watt's upcoming Netflix series so soon? Well, the streaming platform is here to remind you with the first series trailer - and I have to admit that the show looks far more tantalizing than it did on paper.
Gypsy stars Watts as a therapist who begins to get a little too touchy feely with her patients, including indie brood boy Karl Glusman. With a suspecting husband at home (Billy Crudup, *sigh* isn't it wonderful that he seems to be everywhere nowadays?) the trysts spin into a compulsive thrill of a double life. The first two episodes will be directed by Fifty Shades of Grey's Sam Taylor-Johnson, so expect plenty of kinkiness to go with its character pathos.
Of course, hopping over to television has been in fashion for our major talents for some time, but Watts is one star that could benefit from the kind of character depth that long-form storytelling can allow. It's been far too long since she's had a film that knows what she's capable of, and Gypsy could show a side of her we haven't seen in awhile. Could this be the most immersive and surprising she's been since Mulholland Drive? Gypsy comes to Netflix on June 30!

Man, Watts is a super hardworking actor. She must work all the time.
I don't mind; I'm a fan but here's hoping she'll get another role that will return her to The Painted Viel or Mullholland Dr. level glory.
Setting myself up for disappointment with Naomi Watts, yet again. Seriously, why not cast a great, under-employed actress who could really use this? Anne Heche anyone?

I have always liked Watts. I will definitely check out this series.
She needs something like this to pep up her career,I too have always admired her but the career is all over the place.

Not so sure about this. Taylor-Johnson actually made the first Fifty Shades LESS kinky then the books. She wanted to take a lot of the sex out which seriously pissed off the author (whatever you think of the writer's talents, she didn't shy away from the sex). I mean, it's great that this show has a female director for at least a few episodes, but I'm not convinced this show will be kinky so much as generically "sexy." But it has potential.
I just can't get over the title being a slur. Isn't it 2017?
The year Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar I was a little upset. I was hoping for a tie between Watts and Chastain. She was great in The Impossible!
I haven't forgotten about this. I worked on the last 4 episodes of this show. One of my favorite crews. Can't wait to see it.
