Belated Paychecks with America's Highest Paid Spokes-Actresses

"I threw my back out," is going to be my excuse for everything for next few weeks since I have rarely taken this long to recover! Anywayyyy, on Wednesday, Forbes released their annual list of highest paid actresses. Since the list also includes and ALWAYS reflects the kind of actresses that also promote beauty/luxury/leisure, it might more accurately be called the Highest Paid Female Celebrities Who Also Happen To Act. I mean... Mila Kunis is on the list again. Quick: when was the last time people lined up to see her headline a movie? Follow up Question: Yes, Bad Moms. But was it a hit because of her? I rest my case.

Forbes Highest Paid Actresses 2017

  1. Emma Stone $26 million
That reduced payday for a cut on La La Land really paid off since that movie was a half billion blockbuster globally
  2. Jennifer Aniston $25.5 million
Queen of Spokes-Actresshood. What doesn't she endorse?
  3. Jennifer Lawrence $24 million
Dior contract plus mother! and the forthcoming Red Sparrow
  4. Melissa McCarthy $18 million
Someone whose actual incomes come from her movies! (now that Mike & Molly is off the air)
  5. Mila Kunis $15.5 million
Bad Moms + Family Guy + surely some endorsements like her Jim Bean deal
  6. Emma Watson $14 million
Beauty & The Beast, the year's #1 hit (sigh)
  7. Charlize Theron $14 million
Dior pays her well. Plus her upfront salary on Atomic Blonde.  We don't understand why that movie isn't a huge hit (it's so exciting) but she won't be making a mint from it as a producer since it isn't.

  8. Cate Blanchett $12 million
That Thor: Ragnarok payday musta been Hela good
  9. Julia Roberts $12 million
Her Lancôme contract accounts for much of this since her movies aren't blockbuster successes anymore
  10. Amy Adams $11.5 million
(Comparatively) quiet year for her but this includes paychecks for Arrival and Justice League

Fan Bingbing and ScarJo fell off the list this year but don't worry - they're still swimming in money. How long til Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot makes this list we wonder?

Reckon Full-time Attention Seeker Obnoxious Jlaw is being eaten up inside that Emma Stone has overtaken her, ha.

I used to look down on the endorsement celebs, but the more I get older and the more I know about how Hollywood throws away stars at a moment's notice, the more I understand and support it. Everyone's gotta get paid.

Yeah, I'm with Joseph here. Especially for women in Hollywood. They gotta make big bucks before they're shown the pasture. Of course I do wish this list had at least one WOC or anyone over 50 since, well you know...

I wish they'd just gave us a Top 10 Actress based on actual bums on seats.

Your so right about McCarthy her films open and go into profit with her as the sole reason to go see it maybe Ghostbusters was a miss but it still was bigger than half these other actresses films,Jennifer Lawrence should be here maybe Charlize and Amy though neither puts lots of bums on seats but their films do respectable business and they keep the careers fresh.

Aniston is this 2005 she definitely does not belong here and neither does Kunis,Roberts,Blanchett or Emma Watson.

We will see if Emma Stone can beome a BO Queen on her own soon enough.

Is Emma Stone a spokesperson? Perhaps she's done a makeup ad—God knows she could shill hair color!—but I don't remember her in any ads. Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, and Julia Roberts seem to be in at least one ad in every Vanity Fair issue I read, but who could blame 'em? (Roberts' ads are by far the most garish and irritating though.) It's surprising that Lawrence "only" made $24 million since she got paid $20 million alone for starring in Passengers. Angelina Jolie, when she deigns to star in studio pictures, always rebounds to the top (or near top) of the list, God bless her. (That woman's got A-game and doesn't need to shill for SmartWater or Aveeno.) Anyway, I'm happy for Stone's success.

Just re-watched Arrival. For the first time since awhile, I'm really looking forward to see what Amy is doing next. She was just so wonderful in that.

"Arrival" is so easily one of the best movies ever made.

Credit needs to be given where due, Aniston is neither the most bankable actresss nor do her projects gain much acclaim ( cake was pr-ed to the max), but she is definitely Loved immensely which makes sense why she's been a staple on this list since I think, friends went off the air- I googled every list since 2014, and she's in the list every day. People really really lover her and I guess thats why her endorsement moolah is so much and still there.

Since 2004*, in the list every year

But her resume reads bland bland bland.

Actors - well, movie actors- are ridiculously overpaid. Some of them até high School Drop outs- Stone herself being one. They are not curing cancer, they are not ending The dictatorship in Venezuela, they are not negotiating peace in the Middle east, they are not Doctors without borders, they are not educators, are not creating New technology, not saving lives.

They are making movies - many of questionable quality- and selling make up.

August 19, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda

@markgordonuk - no argument there.

August 20, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterRizz

Amanda...but wealthy artists can be very philanthropic (and they also have a platform they can use to champion the work of said doctors, educators, and technologists).

August 20, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterSoSue

SoSue - by that definition, no profession is over-paid, as there are individuals in all high paying professions that are philanthropic
