Beauty Break: Golden Horse Nominees

The Golden Horse Awards are happening this Saturday in Taiwan and they've done official photoshoots with the nominees. If you missed the nominations we listed them here. We have to share a handful of the photos which are by someone named CK for the Taipei Golden Horse Festival because they're gorgeous.

Zeng Meihuizi, Best Actress for Three Husbands
You might remember her from Summer Palace which had a bit of an international profile

Roy Chiu, Best Actor for Dear Ex
He's mostly been a TV star up until now but is nominated for playing a gay man who becomes involved in the life of the widow of his lover (a similar basic concept as Israel's The Cakemaker this year)

Zhao Tao, Best Actress for Ash is Purest White
You'll know her from Mountains May Depart, Still Life, and A Touch of Sin (she basically stars in all of her acclaimed husband's Jia Zhangke's films). She's won rave after rave for this performance including right here at The Film Experience

Chao Deng, Best Actor for Shadow (❤️ this movie / performance!)

Sun Li, Best Actress for Shadow (Chao Deng's wife on and offscreen)

You can see more of the photoshoot (which also includes the Best Director nominees) at the Facebook page of the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival.

Chao Deng started in Taiwan television series mostly Casted in minor roles back early 2000s. I thought he was good and effective. He doesn’t have the look of a leading man. Kudos to him for blossoming into the best actor of his generation.

You included Zeng Whatshername but left out Zhou fucking Xun? I'm extremely disappointed in you Nate.
