Pfeiffer in the A.M.

The world's Most Elusive Movie Star actually took a selfie selpfie this weekend. In the A.M. no less. Here is Michelle Pfeiffer by Michelle Pfeiffer. This glorious pfoto was provided by Brigitte Reiss-Andersen, makeup artist to the stars, who writes...

This might be the rarest selfie ever!!! Michelle Pfeiffer in the a.m ❤️❤️❤️.
Hair @richardmarin Makeup by me. #michellepfeiffer #movielegend#brigittereissandersen #raremoment

Bless all of them for providing this image.

P.S. La Pfeiffer will next be seen onscreen (presumably in a cameo) in Avengers: Endgame on April 26th, 2019, three days before her 61st birthday. 61! But because the world is so vastly unpfair we don't get to see her again for another YEAR after that when she returns on May 29th, 2020 as Queen Ingrith, alongside Angelina Jolie's sorceress & Elle Fanning's sleepy princess and all the rest of the fairies and royals from that 2014 film with the exception of Brenton Thwaites as Prince Phillip. He's been replaced by rising star Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats).

We originally thought that Pfeiffer was playing the film's magical big bad (it wouldn't be a first for her. See: Stardust) but apparently the film's villain is Ed Skrein who can't seem to get away from villain roles with that severe but handsome face of his. He previously was the big bad of Deadpool and is currently the racist cop who destroys the peace of the happy couple at the center of If Beale Street Could Talk.  Coincidentally, and perhaps apocryphally, Wikipedia states that Skrein made his acting debut in a short film called Michelle (of all things!) though that appears nowhere on his IMDb profile.

Harris Dickinson replacing Brenton Thweites is an upgrade in every conceivable way.

Daydreaming about her getting nominated for Where Is Kyra? She's certainly on my ballot...

I keep trying to imagine what she would have been able to do with a role like "Amy" in Gone Girl 20-30 years ago. I still want to see that movie.

Allison Janney has her Oscar.

I’d say Catherine Zeta-Jones has Michelle’s Oscar. (“Love humiliates you; hatred cradles you.”)

I wish Michelle and Kiefer both managed more traction for their work in WHERE IS KYRA?, a challenging, thought-provoking, and unrelentingly bleak film.

Somewhat related, I rewatched both FATAL ATTRACTION and DANGEROUS LIAISONS last night for the first time in years. In the latter, Michelle is devasatingly believable as someone who dies of heartbreak. (When she tells Keanu, “Enough.” 💔)

Glenn has always been my Oscar win for FATAL, but I now see she’s also my win for LIAISONS. (In my younger years, I was in Full Foster Fever and probably swayed by the horrible violence that befalls her character in ACCUSED.) As Marquise de Merteuil, Glenn is pitch-perfect in every furtive glance, every controlled gesture, just genius in every way. Hers is one of the most fascinating portraits of self-hatred I’ve ever seen.

I also forgot how great a teenaged Uma was, how valiant Malkovich’s effort was yet how he was so miscast, and how Keanu really once was as bad an actor as people like to say.

I’m rambling, but my point is, if Glenn Close doesn’t win for THE WIFE, I’m moving to Canada... 🇨🇦

Michelle Pfeiffer.... ageless. She just keeps looking better.

Anything over Brenton Thwaites is a major upgrade. That kid fucking sucks. He's bland, he's got those awful eyebrows, and always act pretty.
