Where in the World is Gina Rodriguez

Chris here. Carmen Sandiego is about to be a big thing for Netflix and they have landed one helluva leading lady: the delightful Gina Rodriguez!

We have long loved the star thanks to Jane the Virgin. She also did showstopping work in a small role in this year's Annihilation so watching her platform elevate further will be a real treat. Nabbing this headling gig in the long discussed revamp of the character is a major win while her stars remains on the rise. You'll remember such big names as Jennifer Lopez being bandied about over the years...

Now if we could just get her that elusive Emmy nomination before Jane the Virgin potentially ends next season.

Netflix will be prefacing the Rodriguez-led Carmen Sandiego film with a new animated series, so expect some on-brand family friendly frivolity. We'll be on hold with bated breath until we get a first glimpse of the actress donning the iconic red wide-brimmed hat and overcoat, and of course where in the world we'll be chasing her. We should be receiving the animated series and the film sometime in 2019.

Awesome! Glad they didn't cast some very tan white chick.

I don’t love her in Annihilation but I like her a lot in general so think she’s a good choice.

I was obsessed with Carmen Sandiego as a child (imagine a six year old facepalming when the eleven year old contestants couldn’t identify Khartoum on a map) so I’m excited to see what they do with this. I think it would be hard to turn it into a regular narrative structure.

@Evan, same. LOL

Kigali, Rwanda and Moroni, Comoros are burned into my mind as a result of this game.

Good on the producers for finding, then casting an *appropriate* choice.
