Lily James Kisses "Teacher"

Chris here. While the first looks at the Mamma Mia! sequel has been a swinging pendulum of results, fans sincere and ironic still eagerly await word on just what ABBA songs will make their way into the film. But yay, we just got our first released track: a Lily James-led rendition of "When I Kissed the Teacher". And naturally it's a gay old time: feather boas, costume reveals, and a Celie Imrie cameo. Mostly, this has us really stoked for James' polished vocals and perhaps some higher production value this go around.

Even though this song isn't quite at the top of my must list for this ABBA redux (gimme "People Need Love" in addition to Cher's incoming "Fernando"), it's quite a treat. What ABBA tracks are you hoping make the mix?

I'll be happy if they just don't let pierce brosnan sing again.

Lily James is really becoming something, isn't she? I'm a fan so far

"The Day Before You Came" and "If it Wasn't for the Nights" are my top 2 ABBA tracks, but they have so many brilliant songs.

A better version of "The Winner Takes It All", hopefully making sense in the context of the story, perhaps?

The vocals sound enhanced unlike in the first film? Not that I’m complaining, mind you. It sounds great and doesn’t sound horribly auto tuned.

Lily James's natural charm is really growing on me and Ol Parker just might be a director with better taste than Phyllida Lloyd. I'm sad that it will have much much less Meryl but I love Lily, I love ABBA and I have hope in Ol (who really great at writing scripts with an ensemble cast). Judging from this clip (love Celia Imrie solo part), July 20 couldn't come soon enough.

@Paul-Totally agree with you. It sounded like he was trying to take a shit when he's singing.

I am hoping for the best ... but still have reservations.

I think it will be a big hit, it just feels sort of irresistibly fun and campy. Also, as Jennifer Saunders once said, "Celia Imrie is always good value".

All in on this one. I am so REAAADDDY for some fun and camp. And, lay off poor Pierce. He can do no wrong in my book; I will love him no matter what he sounds like.
