What is it about French women (actresses?); they appear to be, as Streisand sang, ageless and evergreen.

Love her! Her Oscar win is one of my favorite upsets of all time!

She is not only the best actress to work from 1985 to now, but she's beautiful in a natural and entrancing way. The mere sight of her face moves me; Kiarostami understood the power of her face not only in Certified Copy, but also in Shirin, an ode to the female face.

I love her face when she is talking (this year's astonishing Let The Sunshine In; Hou's Red Balloon), but I love her even move when she's silent, staring at a vague point and projecting everything she wants (Blue, and Camille Claudel 1915, her best performance tout-court).

This woman is not only an actress, she's herself a masterpiece of nature, God, universe, whatever.
