Re: A Simple Favor

Who knew that, between her and Leighton Meester, Blake Lively would have the most exciting career post-Gossip Girl?! Shit, if girl keeps this up she maybe an Oscar nominee in a few years time!

@ Chris- Blake Lively was in contention for her performance in The Town. A lot of people were impressed. She was allegedly considered for Gravity based on that performance.

Again, love me some Gaga but Close has to win Best Actress!

My own twitter review of A SIMPLE FAVOR leaned a little cornily... "Real fun movie with pitch perfect sisterhood performances from Kendrick and Lively." :P

I thought she was MVP in The Town and deserved an Oscar nomination.

Tom G- I loved her perf in The Town (she made my Supporting Actress lineup that year), so I'm always giddy to hear people were legit considering her for the nom. Did not know that about her almost getting Gravity! Shit, that would of been interesting!

I believe Close will win. Look at the Academy's record. Close is long overdue and this is going to be her 7th nomination! And, when this happens, often actors or actresses get the gold for films that would have otherwise garnered them only a nomination. One recent case was Meryl Streep's win for The Iron Lady, after losing 12 times. Now, sometimes the charm doesn't work. Peter O'Toole lost on his 8th nomination, but then again he'd recently been awarded a Special Oscar. Voters must have thought he should be content with that!

I remember when The Town came out a lot of people were saying, "Wow, didn't know she had that in her" regarding Lively. I know that performance lead to her being considered and maybe even tested for Gravity. Aside from Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman, Sienna Miller and Naomi Watts were also being considered before Bullock got the part.

If Close loses to Lady Gaga, I will throw my mp3's of Artpop directly into the Recycling Bin and right-click/delete.

An interesting (outrageous) fact: Nicole has never won an NYFCC, NBR, LAFCA or NSFC prize. The latter three have never even shortlisted her.

She has one BFCA prize for To Die For (the group's first Best Actress winner and a good one!) and that's it for film.

It would be amazing if one or more of those groups rallied around Destroyer in December.

If those awards get split up, I see:

Kidman for LAFCA (edgy—and maybe a tie with Davis or a foreign language performance)
McCarthy for NBR (right down the middle, how they like it)
Gaga for NYFCC (a little left of center)
Close for NSFC (they like a grand dame)

"Which multiple Oscar nominated actress is the only woman to lose an Oscar to Best Dance Recording Grammy winners?"

Technically, wouldn't all the nominated actresses who lost to Cher & Gaga have also lost to Best Dance Recording Grammy winners? Meryl Streep is a multiple Oscar nominated Actress who lost to Cher.
