I fucking love them all. Also, Angelina's lips, should be considered one of the natural wonders of the world, right alongside Cate Blanchett's cheekbones.
Is this how gay men are met at the gates of heaven?
God I wish this cast was in something different than Maleficent.
I can't help but look forward to this movie given who is involved, but it's frustrating to me how Elle Fanning is the one of these three whose acting career seems to be the most rewarding at the moment. Not a complaint, she's wonderful, but I just wish we were getting Pfeiffer and Jolie in something different. I know at this point the days where Jolie's acting was seriously considered is mostly gone, but at her best she was so compelling.
lighten up all.. just enjoy the movie.. they are having a blast and enjoying themselves......
JWB -- we can dream though I imagined it would be more like Hepburn / Streep / Davis as Oscar's holy trinity. On the other hand it's hard to picture Davis in heaven ;)
The American version of The Favourite.
Nathaniel-I think Nicole/Julianne/Meryl posed done up exactly like they are done of the poster of the Hours would be true heaven.
One of my immediate thoughts was that Pfeiffer and Fanning as mother and daughter in a film would be ideal. Then I realized that considering their 40-year age difference, we could make things more interesting and throw Rosamund Pike into the middle as Michelle's daughter and Elle's mother in some multigenerational crime drama about a family of icy blondes with decades of dirty little secrets.
Maleficent was one of the happiest surprises of the last few years, and very underrated. I hope this is in the same class.
A few paths for Michelle going forward:
Start producing! Step away from the fragrances and get some great roles/projects off the ground.
Do indies! Say yes to big roles in small movies, not small roles in big movies, or medium roles in medium movies. Look at Annette Bening's career. Where is Kyra? was a step in the right direction.
Do TV! Look for a miniseries. The last 12 years have reminded people that Michelle Pfeiffer exists but nothing has reminded people that she's a phenomenal talent, mother! aside. She needs a new calling card—it worked for Julianne with Game Change. Wizard of Lies didn't really do the trick.
Michelle is channelling her role in Mother! or maybe she just can't smile anymore with all that botox.
JF-it was such a shame WOL was so lame because Michelle herself was actually very very impressive in it I thought. I'm a fan so I'm a bit biased but I wished the movie was on her level, sadly the way I feel about a lot of her movies.
Peter: I agree, she did GREAT character work in Wizard of Lies.
She was so great in Where is Kyra? and the film itself was good, not her fault it was too dark and artsy to get proper distribution
JF: her next movie is an indie French Exit which Sony Classics recently bought. Good sign.
I want Angelina to do a Girl Interrupted kind of movie. She is soooo goooood when she let her demons out.
Pfeiffer is too cool for this movie. I agree that Pfeiffer needs to do some Indies
Elle Fanning has worked with a bunch of great actresses:
Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer - Maleficent
Cate Blanchett - Benjamin Button
Nicole Kidman - The Beguiled
Annette Bening - 20th Century Women
Helen Mirren - Trumbo
Glenn Close - Low Down
Scarlett Johansson - We Bought a Zoo
Jennifer Connelly - Reservation Road
I wish these three talented and beautiful stars would be starring in better material than another Disney franchise- seriously .
I am still waiting for Michelle’s comeback. Seems she is getting parts but she lost her mojo. Elle Fanning needs to not worry so much about her weight. I will be curious to see if Angie still has her mojo.
With regards to her mojo we will be seeing Angelina in 3 films in 2020, plus an animation too. We barely saw her act in 3 films over the past decade, so that is an interesting turn in events. But I think they are all supporting/co-starring roles rather than leads.
Today is Stella Stevens' birthday.
I love Pfeiffer but maybe she’s taking these roles in blockbuster films to fund her fragrance business? Smart move
Anon: Remember, a co-starring role usually is a lead, despite all the category fraud around!
