Nathaniel R giving you the heads up on what's available to you now to screen at home.
Newish on DVD/Blu-Ray
• Serenity - Must be seen to be believed. We can't wait for it to hit streaming and watch the masses catch on to this new camp classic.
• Tickled - Unsure why this famous doc about fetish videos and the shady man who produced them took 3 years to end up on DVD.
• The Gospel According to André - well-reviewed fashion doc.
Also new: Taraji P Henson hears What Men Want, Gina Rodriguez gets kidnapped in the remake of Miss Bala, Mads Mikkelsen freezes in Arctic, and Everybody Knows something or other about Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Great iTunes deals and new to streaming after the jump...
Notable iTunes 99¢ Deals
• Mission Impossible: Fallout for thrills a minute
• The Girl in the Spider's Web - it flopped in theaters (maybe people didn't need a third version of Lisbeth Salander in a ten year time span?) but you can now see Claire Foy's take on the role on the cheap if you're curious.
• Dave Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline in the White House
• Hot Summer Nights - We never got around to this Timothée Chalamet indie. Did you?
• Love Gilda -doc on the legendary comedienne Gilda Radner

Serenity.

Serenity just... DEFIES description. I can't help but marvel at movies like it and The Book of Henry and Collateral Beauty — actual films backed by real studios and worked on by award-winning creators and actors and artists, and not one of them stepped in and said, "We have to stop. We have to stop this madness."
I saw SERENITY opening night and I gotta say whoever made the trailer deserves every fucking cent of their paycheck.... How can a film that promises to be a lurid, sweaty, film noir turn out to be what it actually turned out to be!!
You have to see the plot twist to believe it.. INSANE Like 'mother!", I can not believe this got a full-on wide theatrical release, lol
Seriously, Serenity beggars belief. Watch it and DON'T spoil it, it deserves to be discovered on its own in its purest form. I'm convinced that even knowing what happens can't fully prepare you for it, but EVEN STILL. It's UNBELIEVABLE.
ok i guess i better see Serenity then, wow
I saw that doc on the USA Gymnastics this past weekend. Larry Nassar is a disgusting fuck. The things I heard from those women... man... couldn't they just let one of those girls' fathers to come in and beat the holy fuck out of him for 5 minutes?
The movie to avoid is the godawful remake of "Suspiria"
