"San Juan Hill"

Pictures taken directly outside my front door today. omg, WEST SIDE STORY ("san juan hill" surely isn't foolin' anybody) is filming on the street where I live. My friend, after talking to some neighbors, believes the main filming business is going to be happening about two blocks from us (something about gels over apartment windows) so we probably won't be able to see a dancer number outside the window but we can always dream.

Extras in period garb strolling down the street... but the filming is one block north of here.
1950s style cars as well as a school bus lining the streets. And you can see heavy cranes and the klieglights in the distance. They won't let you walk on this block (which is really three blocks since there are no side streets)

We can always dream that this ignominious remake isn't happening.
So the remake is being set in exactly the same timeframe and location as the original? So... what's the point?
Why oh why remake west side story. Such a waste of time and money.
Why are they saying the location for this movie is exactly not where it really is being filmed? It's being filmed on Prospect Ave. Bronx, NY. Near Little Italy and 187 st.!I mean I see the old beautiful cars from my window!
Was driving by yesterday and saw the hand painted Lincoln Towers signs. Exciting!
Anon -- "coming in 1958" made me giggle. The spanish language gymnasium sign all faded is really authentic looking too... and clothes hangers between the buildings. It's all very cool
Today they are filming in the Heights, at 177th between Broadway and Ft. Washington Ave. They've built an old time kiosk over the subway entrance.
Filming in Newark at Park Place this AM
They are now in my neighborhood, 141st and Cypress Ave. I WISH they hurry the fuck up cuz they have hijacked ALL of the parking!
