International Cat Day ~ The Game.

Happy International Cat Day, one of the most essential holidays of all time.

Audrey Hepburn with "Cat" in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

After the jump we're playing a game. Can you guess which human actors these big screen cats are coupled with in these images? The answers are included under the photos but you'll have to highlight them to read them since they're in white type. Tell us how many you were able to figure out before looking at the answers!

A) Guessed by BVR. that ginger beast is chewing on... Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns (1992) which is obviously a favourite of ours.

B) Guessed by Renaud. That adorable kitten is purring while climbing up... Clive Owen's leg in Children of Men (2006). Wouldn't you?

C) Guessed by Volvagia (and this was a tough one). That cat is getting picked up by... Lillian Gish in the silent epic Birth of a Nation (1915)

D) Guessed by James. That poor poor kitty waiting in the window. Who is gonna feed him now that... Brooke Smith is about to get snatched by Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs (1991). Remember when we dove deep into this film?

E) Guessed by Roger. Oooh look it's Marty who is nonplussed about the awful attack he watches happen to... Isabelle Huppert in Elle (2016). But she loves him anyway

F) Guessed by Jay, who is really a cat savant. This lucky cat is about to be cuddled by... Sophia Loren in the brilliant Italian classic Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow (1963)... a film we wrote about here.

G) Guessed by Amirfarhang. This cat is more like a symbol than a character. He represents... Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief (1955) another film we've written about before.

H) Guessed by J.B. Yup, that's crookshanks who belongs to ... Emma Watson in the Harry Potter movies.

I) Guessed by Jay. This hungry cat is waiting for food. And with good reason... He co-stars in the food movie Julie & Julia (2009) with Amy Adams.  ... which we just barely discussed.

J) Guessed by James. This cat escapes a grim fate after... Christian Bale tries to feed him to an ATM machine in American Psycho (2000)... a film we may have mentioned once or twice or thirteen times

K) Guessed by DX. This beauty belongs to... Kate Nelligan in Frankie & Johnny (1991) who is in bed with Johnny (Al Pacino) while Arsenio Hall plays on the TV, forever dating this particular movie.

P.S. Thank you to Cinema Cats which exhaustively documents cat appearances onscreen from which these images are lifted.

No "The Cat From Outer Space" with Sandy Duncan?!?!?!?

August 8, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterforever1267

forever1267 -- i mean there are literally thousands of movies in which cats appear so this was but a random sampling ;)

August 8, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Love this. A small part of me was hoping to see the cat in Cat's Eye, some compensation for what he's put through in that movie!
