Thoughts I had... while staring at this poster of "The Eyes of Tammy Faye"
...Or, rather: thought, singular.
This is actually brilliant counter-intuitive poster design. It takes Tammy Faye's most famous features... those bright blue eyes absolutely imprisoned in mascara and eyeshadow, and obscures them. Biopics invite you to gawk at someone famous and get to know them better. This one is is all 'don't look don't look. The shame!'
Love it. Can't wait to see Jessica Chastain's work. (Previous thoughts on the trailer here)

I have a weird feeling the Best Actress Oscar is Chastain’s to lose….
I predict it to have a metacritic score of 60
MEDIOCRE!!!
I don't want to get too excited as early releases sometimes lose steam and the tone of the trailer had me worried as well as the make up..
@Sean Casey- I agree. At least on paper she seems like the frontrunner and I can't immediately think of a challenger to her. Best actress and makeup get nominated together a lot so maybe it really is her time. She is due, respected, and is one of the few actresses from The Help to not win yet.
There are a lot of ladies playing real people this year and at least 2 are usually nominated for doing that very thing,so in my mind 6 Actresses could claim 2 or 3 spots,I have high hopes Halle Berry will receive a welcome back nod for Bruised 20 yrs after winning, that narrative of her still being the only black woman to win could fly during the season.
Stewart - Spencer
Gaga - House of Gucci
Hudson - Respect
Da Armas - Blonde
Chastain - Tammy Faye
Kidman -Being the Ricardo's
Instantly iconic. I want to hang this poster in my room.
The poster is clever and focus on Chastain, thank God, cause Garfield looks extremely miscast, but I hope this will be Chastain's show and she may finally get herself that Oscar she should've had for Zero Dark Thirty.
@markgordonuk : I really hope Berry gets some love for Bruised, Stewart may happen because Larrain is an incredible director of actors & we will find out if Gaga is really fashionable with the Academy and if she really is a good actress or if ASIB was just it.
I don't see Kidman happening (miscast) or DeArmas (just because she's plain bad or really vanilla in virtually everything I've seen her in, thank God she's hot).
I feel a nomination coming for sure … the win is certainly possible (she was so deserving for ZDT!) but I fear the movie will get mixed reviews. The tone in the trailer seems a little off, it feels silly. And then you have the prosthetics… 😬 It could really go either way.
^ re: Halle — I would lovvve a comeback for Miss Berry. Dear academy, let’s make this happen!
I just rewatched the trailer and liked it much more the second time, but the prosthetics are seriously distracting. They look really silly.
Remembering that Jessica wasn’t nominated for A Most Violent year is *throws cigarette* “ […] very disrespectful…” so i do hope she finally gets her third nod. At least the Globes love her.
I hope so for Berry. Then (I only looked back to 1980) only Brie Larson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Marlee Matlin would be Best Actress winners with no other nominations to their record.
Philip H --- while i normally would agree on the "silly" facctor that's also part of this story. The Bakers were like cartoons in some ways so i hope it all works.

I'll definitely watch the film. I'm not that familiar with Ms. Chastain's work (haven't seen ZDT) but she might be great in this. Andrew Garfield is much riskier. Don't know if he has range.
Jessica should’ve won for ZD30. She also should have 3 more noms: AMVY, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and Molly’s Game.
I really hope it’s her time this year.
My immediate first impression is that this is the hand of an artist. The nails and jewelry attempt to make it look crass, but the elegance of the hand can’t be disguised.Rheine
