Broadway World we haven't heard Pamela Anderson's name in years but post Pam & Tommy, the now 54 year old beauty is staging a comeback and it begins with a stint as Roxi Hart in Broadway's undead Chicago. Mouse House Shame
Finally, as you may have heard Disney has been suffering backlash for supporting the politicians behind the GOP's latest antigay moves in Florida. But not enough backlash if you ask us. The company has been releasing terribly lame statements and I wish most news sites would do more to really pick these statements apart because they are atrocious and filled with misleading suggestions and sometimes lies. For instance you cannot "unequivocally" support LGBTQ+ people while donating to their political foes who are seeking to repress them. We also want to have some words to HRC which have given Disney a 100% rating for years. This rating is clearly monetarily driven -- HRC needs their funding, too, -- but it means absolutely nothing since Disney does a terrible job of being an ally to gay people with both gay representation and with their political gestures. "Gay Days" for example is still not officially sanctioned by the company despite all the millions they've earned from it.

Finally, it's absolutely ridiculous to suggest that corporate statements in support of gay rights do not move the needle. If Disney actually took a stand and actually unequivocally supported LGBTQ+ people there would be real change in the world because they are a behemoth company with gargantuan financial resources and political power. Whether its right for any one company to have that much power (it's not) is another topic. But since they do in fact have that power, it's shameful that they pretend to be an ally while proving otherwise with their actions.

I cannot claim to be an 'activist' by any means, but I am very involved in our LGBTQ2S+ employee resource group at work, up in here in Canada. The spark that lit the fire in me was when Anderson Cooper was interviewing the human turd by the name of Rick Scott in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting, where Anderson had to repeat the question 3 times before Scott would utter the word 'gay' to acknowledge the lives lost. He just wouldn't say the word. Because even in their death, gay people are fodder for political points. And here we are in 2022, yet again with an entire presidential platform being built out of Florida on the bullying of gay and trans minorities.

I will never travel to Florida.

I'm gonna go read Claudio's article now and think about Mike Faist's Pas de bourree.

I haven't been to Florida in nearly 20 years and with the way things are going. Fuck that shithole of a state. It's a shame because I had fun there as a kid going to Disney World, Panama City, Destin, Tampa, Miami, and the Keys. Now it's not fun anymore.

When I first saw that Disney email, I thought it would have been better to say "no comment" or even "sit tight and assess." How can you possibly say you are unequivocal when your words and actions are almost the definition of equivocating? I'm with Bob Iger on this one and wish he was still running the show. Yo, New Bob, actions speak louder than words, even inactions.

Please allow me to jump on the scrum against Disney. They have their gay nights and I wonder if that's a way they think they are keeping gays from upsetting straights. The "Don't Say Gay" bill is a horror. Ron DeSantis just loves to create new rules that are extremely offensive. Gay high school kids in Florida are having walk-outs from school. Someone needs to organize more protests. It's so ludicrous that, in 2022, Disney and DeSantis think they can get away with this. DeSantis is trying to make himself into the new Trump.

Have never been a Disney type of person and now I'm even less so. And def giving Florida (and Texas for that matter) a wide berth from here on out. Standing 100% with Nathaniel, all who posted above, and the gay/queer community in general. Just disgusted.
