I always liked when Fred Ward showed up in a movie - and he worked really well with Altman. He's great in both The Player and Short Cuts.
I always enjoyed seeing Fred Ward on-screen, too. I especially like his performance in The Right Stuff - all of the actors are so good in that and it's fun to see them just as they were becoming stars.
HBO Max is the best mainstream streamer, and Apple TV Plus has been building a surprisingly strong profile this Spring with Pachinko, Severance, and WeCrashed, so those statistics seem fair.
Fred Ward crowning glories are as Lily Tomlin's and sexy slightly dim rough trade object of affection in Big Business and in 85's crazy action adventure Remo Williams.
Can we get James Hong his honorary Oscar this year?! He has been working since the 1950's. Maybe he and Jamie Lee Curtis can both get honorary and Yeoh can win best actress? Sounds too good to be true but if enough people push for it, maybe it will happen.
Fred Ward is awesome. A dude who embodies the every man as he is tough but also cool and caring. He will be missed.
Christopher Walken as the Emperor of Dune Pt. 2....
Honestly, why... didn't they.... think of this.... before? This is... the kind of casting that.... Jodorowsky's.... version would've... gone for. It's crazy! Just like... Jodorowsky wanting to.... have Salvador Dali.... DALI!!!! As... the emperor! It's perfect! After all... the Great... Christopher Walken... is going to... knock it out of the park! He's also... going to ask for.... more spice! I'VE GOT A FEVER!!!!! AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION IS.... MORE SPICE!!!!!
It looks like A24 has read my comments on how to build up a possible EEAAO Awards campaign, by setting on fire the conversation on James Hong's possible Honorary Oscar as a way to double dip the film's association with Oscar buzz. Happy for it, Hong has always been underrated and consistent, and would totally deserve one.
Just saw the trailer for Danny Boyle's Pistol, and I was hoping it would be a film, but it's going to be a series... it looks amazing and totally my cup of tea.
