Apologies for the radio silence this weekend -- though we've been updated the Oscar charts -- but we took the weekend to recharge via Fire Island (not Fire Island the movie though that's come up in conversation multiple times). After "The Invasion of the Pines" today, the annual tradition wherein drag queens ferry it from Cherry Grove to the Pines, we're headed back to our less glittery, less eye-candy filled lives *sniffle*. So this post is illustrated with the three photos from the TFE archives that best sum up this weekend...

@Amy Camus-AMEN!!!! I don't feel celebratory about our day of independence. Especially as it's no longer OK for women to have abortions as I heard a 10 year old was raped by some asshole and was hoping to get an abortion but has been denied. Yet, it's OK to get a gun and kill a bunch of people like what just happened near Chicago.

Regarding Oscars, I am curious to see if Inarritu and Russell fall out of the Academy's favor. It feels kind of like it's time for the hype to catch up with both of them (and I like Russell's films, at least... Inarritu not so much). Things have changed since 2015, and I don't know that either of their perspectives will play well in 2022.
Poor Things has moved to 2023 unfortunately.
