First & Last 043

Can you guess the movie from its first and last shot?

The answer is after the jump once you scroll down...

It's A Quiet Place: Part Two (2021) which is streaming on Paramount +. I remember being a bit trepidatious about it given that the first one didn't exactly beg for a sequel. But then as I sat in the theater I was pleasantly surprised by the opening sequence, set immediately before (like, immediately)  the alien invasion. All in all a decent little fast-paced thrill ride. Does it need a third chapter and a spin-off. Absolutely not! But such is the way now in this 'all things must franchise' landscape.

I was just thinking about this one as it was a surprise topic at the day job a few weeks back. Everyone was talking about how much they loved it when someone casually referenced it. I never rain on parades when people in the real world enthuse about a movie. Let people love what they love!

I knew this one from the final shot. It wasn't exactly better than the first one, but a very good thriller nonetheless. And good to see Djimon Hounsou back in stuff.

What a weird, cool last shot.

Wasn't impressed enough by Part 1 to see Part 2, but closing on that impresses me.
