Which Movie and TV people won Grammys?

The Grammys have almost 90 categories so it can get very difficult to track them all. "Complete lists of winners" around the web are usually missing several if not 2/3rds of the actual winners. The list which follows in this post is also probably not complete though we tried by pooling from different sources. We only care about the Grammys very selectively since we're focused on the actors mediums (film, tv, stage) so the "Triple Crown" has always been cooler to us than the EGOT. Neverthless, there are some venn diagram overlaps between our concerns and the Grammys since at least a few actors are nominated each year for something or another. What's more, despite the remake of West Side Story being up for several Oscars, it essentially got a better tribute at the Grammys. That came by way of a truly stirring "In Memoriam" presentation which ended, reverently, with the late great Stephen Sondheim.

The Power of Pamela on "Better Things"

With the abundance of film festivals and the impending Oscar season, television may be sitting on the back burner for many. But with the Emmys coming and going (spectacularly, I might add), many favorite shows are on the way back.

One show has come back for its second season, stronger than ever. Created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K., Better Things is a semi-autobiograpical story of Adlon's career as working actress and single mother of three.

Sound like a well tread path? Fear not, because Adlon spices in very real, very intimate, very comical moments that help jettison Better Things into something incredibly complicated, but equally rewarding...

Oscar Nominees "O.J. Made In America" and "13th" Among 2017 Peabody Award-Winning TV Shows

Woody Comes Home: Blue Jasmine Tea Leaves

Hey folks. Michael C. here. There are few constants in my pop culture life. Woody Allen is one of them. The last time a year passed without a Woody Allen movie was 1981 when I was one year old. Like The Simpsons or SNL, I don't pay nearly as much attention as I used to, but I take a great comfort in knowing they're always there and always will be. I'd be lost if they ever went away.

The past eight years of Woody. How many did you see? Enjoy?

So I'm on board no matter how many Jade Scorpions he compulsively cranks out from now until eternity. I'm already picking through the just released details of his 2013 film, Blue Jasmine, if only in the hopes that my annual pilgrimage will be a brilliant Crimes and Misdemeanors or at very least an entertaining Vicky Christina. At this point there is no more than a title, a cast list, and a brief synopsis, but I already spot some reasons to be optimistic that this might be Good Woody Allen or at least what passes for Good Woody ever since the 00's showed just how painful Bad Woody could get.
