Whedonesque Huh. Did not know this. Willow on Buffy was only a coincidental redhead. T'wasn't planned at all though it's impossible to think of Willow as anything but.
Alyson Hannigan is pregnant again. Congratulations to Mommy Willow!

Cinema Blend Leonardo DiCaprio has two villain roles coming up and The Devil in the White City just hired its screenwriter Graham Moore
The Carpetbagger This is a "hearing about your nomination" story that isn't 100% generic. Angelina Jolie was at the dentist office. Hee.
The Playlist Jessica Chastain to star in The Darling... which is about 4 or 5 movies from now on her schedule. At some point girlfriend's going to have to come up for air! Maybe she'll take a break in 2015?

For what its worth The Academy has disqualified The Smurfs from the Animated Feature race. No one expected it to be nominated but it's still important to note. 18 films were submitted and the category requires 16 qualifying entries for five-wise "Best" category. If more are disqualified before the nomination ballots go out, the shortlist may get, well, shorter. It's a curious and quite competitive category this year given the rarity of a Pixar fumble and a frontrunner (Rango) that is not quite beloved. That said, Pixar's Cars 2 could still well be nominated from force of habit. The Golden Globes went there despite several more acclaimed option and so did the Annies though they select ten nominees so it was practically a gimme. It's kind of a nail biter, isn't it? Do you think Pixar will manage a nod?

I pray that Cars 2 does not get nominated, but I'm very afraid it will.

Ooh, thanks for the link to that interview with Lucy *Walters*, who I think was, among Shame's below-the-title cast, best in show (along with, of course, Nicole Beharie -- me thinks a star is born...in both cases).

Oscar needs to bitch slap this silliness out of Pixar. No nom. If you make garbage, no one will love you, it's that simple for everyone else, and it should be the same for Pixar.

Mareko -- thanks for teh catch. Jeez. trying to give her props and i get her name wrong. whoopsie.

anthony a -- alas it's not that simple for *everyone* else: see also Clint Eastwood whose movies always manage nods no matter how lame they are: hereafter, flags, changeling, j edgar next.

I think the only other potential disqualification is the new Chipmunks film. Everything else in the category (as far as I know) is fully animated.

I cannot see Cars 2 getting in. If they're going to go for a sequel, it's Kung Fu Panda. In many ways, that's one improves on the original. It features multiple styles of animation and a much more mature story. It's kid friendly still but a bit more worthy of discussion than the original's "panda wants to be a ninja" plot. And even then, it looks like there's enough quality animation this year to avoid sequels altogether.

Cars 2 will get nominated. Who else are the Disney/Pixar people going to vote for?

Youre right Nathaniel, I guess Oscar likes their lovers abusive and riddled in poor quality -_-.

Actually if I don’t mind this year if we only have 3 slots for animation. I’d pick Rango, Winnie the Pooh, and Puss In Boots. That’s it. I haven’t seen Tintin though. But 3 slots are enough for this weak year for animation.
