"Chris, that was no dream"

Too funny not to share, though I was suspicious at first. Hilarious, really, all told. The video pokes good fun at Black Swan, The Social Network and Christopher Nolan's Inception in particular and has the smarts to end before the 3½ minute mark. [Thanks to Jorge for the tip]

OK. That was really good.

Glad you liked it, too :)

The "acting" categories are a lot of fun. But the best part, for me, was James Cameron saying "well that's not going to win" when they announce The Illusionist, 2D. :D

Great attention to detail : the slow motion fall and Scorsese's photo.

Love how they alluded to the Natalie Portman's doppelganger, Amy Jo Johnson (vs. Keira Knightley). I remember when I thought Natalie was the Pink ranger for the longest time. I didn't sort it out until Where the Heart Is. Now I see Amy Jo and think it's Jennifer Garner. Why do all these women look the same?

I shamelessly chuckled at the "red carpet" comment.

i love how they nail one of my trouble with INCEPTION (the pompous and noisy score) ,the little details(Scorcese pix or Batman mag) and it's really funny

I love that they have a poster for Edith Piaf in Nolan's bedroom. I assume they're referencing the fact that the score is loosely/weirdly based on a Piaf tune.

Oh, wow... normally, this kind of really low-rent animation and broad humor doesn't work for me, but this had me in tears laughing. I especially loved the Incomprehensible Male Actors (so true!) and the fact that Tommy Wiseau and Bowie from Labyrinth are sitting next to James Cameron when he decries The Illusionist.

And of COURSE Natalie Portman running amok in swan form. I've been thinking: wouldn't it be appropriate if, in the event that Natalie wins, Mila Kunis goes up to accepts her award and everyone plays along? Maybe I just have an overactive imagination.

That was a little...creepy.

Overall: Funniest moments are 1. The imitation of Bale's Batman voice after he punches Rush's head clean off. 2. Swan Force activate. 3. "Bestest and most complicated heist ever guys." That's all Inception was, and I have to say this: BALLS. If that's what you want, bleeping watch The Asphalt Jungle.

Very funny, but Inception was much more than that. Pompous much?

I think the part where Franco and Hathaway start to fall asleep/faint with mind-numbing boredom ("127 hours later") from all the catagories basically reflects my own suspicion of how the whole thing is going to turn out. A few humorous moments but plenty of same-old, same-old.

This animation, however, is firing on all cylinders - the richness of backgrounds, references, etc is astonishing. (I didn't notice the Edith Piaf poster, thanks for catching that Nathaniel!)

I think what they say about the female perfs are also true - not just this year but about the sorts of performances that get actresses awards love in general. We love it when women in the movies suffer, especially as "supportive" spouses or girlfriends. (Would The Bening have a better shot if her character had "suffered" more?)

Joan Cusack's turn in In & Out over Joan Cusack's turn in Grosse Pointe Blank. That pretty much sums up the popular view of what is worthy acting to nominate. The former is a shouty, obnoxious "suffering wife" turn that just so happens to drive the last 10 minutes of the film. The latter is a droll observation of a unique employee-employer rapport.

another thing i noticed on second viewing. The TITANIC drawing of nude Kate Winslet above DiCaprio's bed. teehee
