Right Track? "Born This Way"

Lady Gaga's latest short "Born This Way" has arrived. It's se7en minutes of gooey births, nonsensical mythology ("Mother Monster"!  She must have been watching the Oscars. They do so love a Monster Mom), and simple dances that look complicated via editing that everyone can learn for the clubs. Not quite sure what to make of the Madonna gap teeth at the end, though.

Perhaps she should give the Madonna homages/taunts(?)/riffs a rest? Although speaking of homages. I love that the head in the jar, assembly line thing reminds me so much of Tim Burton's Mars Attacks! or cheesy sci-fi movies in general  ack ack

For what it's worth the Evil that is birthed (the skeleton faced guy, Canadian Rick Genest) also starred in the Thierry Mugler fashion short that Gaga did the German-language music for. That's actually his face. It's not makeup but tattoos.

♪ He was inked this way-hey ♫!

If you missed the Muglier short, that's here.

Yay for repurposing Bernard Herrmann's Vertigo prelude for some New Age-y scifi schtick! I can't tell if I'm being sincere or ironic. But that's what Gaga's good at, anyway.

Colin -- so true. who can say what the intent is beneath all the empowerment and monster rearing?

Great first two and a half minutes, but the rest? Well this is the first bad Gaga's video. And I mean really, really bad. Just awful.

Taunts?

I love the opening music to the video. Too bad it's ruined by a terrible voiceover that uses big words without making much sense. "The mitosis of the future"? Not all scientific words make good metaphors.

I'm still not digging the song.

Joe -- oh. do you take it all as homage? I'm beginning to wonder because it comes so regularly. and then there was that weird whitney houston thing at the grammys?

Looks like she referenced A Clockwork Orange, Michael Jackson and Madonna to me.

I love it. I think it elevated a mediocre song.

I'll stick with Angel for Men as my all-time fave cologne and I never want to see that video again. It's all kind of wrong. Flalshbacks of Mugler's Alien. Noooooo!

I love this video! It's very unique and one of a kind! And Gaga's freakin' crazy! LOL! I just wonder if her tooth gap in this video is real. Because if it is, she might wanna replace here old veneers with new veneers. Las Vegas has one of the great dentist and sedation office. Hope she could have a visit one time.
