Pretty Pictures
You may have noticed I've renewed my love of illustration of late. So here's a piece from the artist SAUL ZANoLARi called "Echnography of Change" which is using Lady Gaga and Julie Andrews to represent tradition and transgression. My first response is only that Gwen Stefani is going to be so jealous of Gaga [cue "Lonely Goatheard" yodelling]

"Echonography of Change" by Saul Zanolari

Anyway... Remember that "lesson" I drew up, about rewarding students with chocolate, a grand lesson delivered by Michelle Pfeiffer herself? Well I was clicking around to see other Illustrations for that same theme (it's a weekly art party) and I did find one other piece that used movies as a jumping off point. When2FeltEm has a really fun almost tangible looking take on The Karate Kid's Mr Miyagi. Love it.

I also enjoyed this bittersweet universal lesson from Letile and two funny efforts from Vhrsti, lord of the flies, and Hello Auki. Bunnies are always trouble!

Looked at the Webby's last few years. One thing I most can't believe? Linkara (Atop the Fourth Wall) isn't in the comedy series line up. Okay, so humour isn't the only intent (he also sounds off on his perceptions of the characters in modern comic books, and, when called for, other entertainments, including talking about Doom (the comic is a 12.0 on the 10.0 scale of badness) and The Backstreet Boys), but he releases videos every...single...week...and has released maybe a dud or two (The Live Show and The Lady Gaga comic (which would be much better if he caught and commented on the subtext the first time).) Either of the "tie in shows" would be good to remove, because, the only thing those'll do is give you more of what you can catch on TV. Linkara...well, he'll inform you of comic books to AVOID. And make you laugh your butt off... and, maybe, give you an interesting plot on a shoe-string budget.

Hmm, I found that Salon article kind of offensive. I'm sure that many of the women she names really are just pandering, but the implication that an attractive woman cannot possibly genuinely be a geek annoys me.
