La Daily Musto Jane Fonda aging like fine wine. Damn, girl! (Now if only someone in the movies would write her a rich role again.)
Boston Globe Wesley Morris notates that sex has left the Hollywood movie, even in a movie about a sexaholic (Crazy Stupid Love). He blames Harry & Sally and that time that they met.
Vogue Italia has a four minute video reel with Ludivine Sagnier, looking luscious as usual.

Socialite Life Maddox Jolie-Pitt is 10 years old already. Christ, time is flying by. The family celebrated with "Wicked" the musical.

Celebrity sex tapes from has beens and non-celebrities, free internet porn, premium cable programing, independent films current fixation on child molesters for their sexual dramas, actresses feeling no desire to sheld their clothes for movies but instead for fashion spreads has killed sex in mainstream movies.

The China Syndrome was on TV here in Toronto but unfortunately I had to go dinner with my mother. I'm now pulling my hair.

Forgot the movies. I don't think that industry will ever get its act together enough to get her a REALLY good part. She DOES have a French movie (she's fluent you know!) in the pipeline, so I'm hoping on that one.

What Jane Fonda needs is a writer to give her an AMAZING pay cable drama that she can really take a bite out of. Can you imagine Jane Fonda on screen every single week? Dies.

@RJ - that is a brilliant idea. Fonda is not my favorite actress (I thought there was something missing from her performance in Coming Home that a smarter, more incisive actress would have brought to the table), but I can readily imagine her as a part of an ensemble on the small screen, where perhaps her flaws as an actress would be less obvious.

Harry Met Sally to blame for the lack of sex in films? That was one of my fave movies back in the day (I remember every one in the theater, of every age, laughing as one at the "fake orgasm" scene) and as romantic comedies go, it strikes as being quite a bit sexier than usual in the genre (but then again that is not a high bar lately, is it?)

Granted, I haven't read the essay yet, so I shouldn't judge, but still - the still-present strain of American puritanism (or rather, Victorian prudishness), our discomfort with the subject (unlike the Europeans), the domination of the film industry by overgrown boys, perpetual adolescents (not mature men, and certainly not women) who grew up with comic books, video games and Tom Cruise films; these are the sorts of things that strike me as having far more to do with American film's discomfort with sex, dealt with in an adult manner.

All right, I've read Morris' essay - the second half has some very interesting comments and many I can agree with (such as how Sharon Stone's career dried up, etc). The first half of the essay still strikes me as bunk. Blaming one women (Ephron) and one film for the lack of sex (and sexuality) in American film? Sorry, the arguement makes no sense, and I can't buy it.

Lots of work (??) done here... never cared for her much ... she gave "cold "performances, even when the material was sad.

Jane Fonda has a new French film ("Et si on vivait tous ensemble?") coming out soon. It also stars Geraldine Chaplin, Pierre Richard and Daniel Brühl, sounds somewhat promising. :)

Comic books resulting in discomfort with sex? Really? William Moulton Marston (the creator of Wonder Woman): Open bondage fetishist and clearly identifiable in the original material. It's mostly gotten better from there. I'm not going to argue on what's wrong with video games, but it mostly, has to do with the fact that a video game that shows any sort of "fully visible sex scene" is probably getting an AO (basically that means the video game NC-17 equivalent is applied to any sort of visible sex (yes, that means video games are still at pre-Midnight Cowboy phase)), even if no sexual organs appear. Yeah. So video games get "independently programmed breast physics", snippets of what would be full scenes in a movie and characters like...oh...I don't know...Bayonetta or Bloodrayne. You can see why video games are limited sexually compared to movies, literature or TV. And...Tom Cruise films? Wait a minute. Losin' It? Risky Business? Cocktail? Top Gun? Eyes Wide Shut? He's been in way too many movies with sex scenes. He's certainly not AFRAID of such material and certainly does it if he feels like he's on top of the world. He shouldn't right now.

Fonda looks absolutely ahhhh-mazing nowadays and she's a total example of self-made stunning physical heath, 'old' or otherwise. People laughed at her when she released those workout tapes -- WHO'S LAUGHING NOW. They clearly paid off!

And I would absolutely DIE to see her on an edgy cable show and with a role she can really sink her teeth into a la Glenn Close/Damages.
