"Malavita" Before Cameras... All Kinds

Malavita, the new Pfeiffer film we've mentioned a couple of times, is starting its PR trek. The plot concept:

Malavita is the story of the Manzonis, a notorious mafia family who gets relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program. While they do their best to fit in, old habits die hard and they soon find themselves handling things the “family” way.

The cast has now gone before the lens, not just movie cameras, of multiple kinds. Like...

Photo Ops They aren't wasting any time announcing themselves since the cast including Tommy Lee Jones, Robert DeNiro, and Michelle Pfeiffer are already posing for cameras. This image is from the new Paris Match. The stars gathered for the opening of their director Luc Besson's Cite du Cinema which is the largest studio ever built in France and is hoping to attract more big productions.

Pity that La Pfeiffer is hidden in the fold!

More Malavita photos after the jump...

On Set Photography  This image of Tommy, Luc and Bobby working was recently sent out to press. Normally a new De Niro film is nothing to get excited about as he never says no and never stops working and hasn't turned in a noteworthy performances since dinosaurs roamed the earth... though word is good on his fatherly gig in Silver Linings Playbook. I'll believe it when I see it -- he's tested the patience, you know. But since this is a Pfeiffer Pfilm, I'm all eyes.

Speaking of...

Paparazzi Whenever stars film out doors you can expect blurry telephoto pics of their work. This is Pfeiffer working on a shopping scene on set in Normandy... this scene apparently had an explosion. Extras, hoping to cross the camera (and therefore Pfeiffer) as grocery customers didn't actually get much of a glimpse of the goddess. Very heavy security on set.

Pfeiffer is the mafia wife "Maggie" here with Dianna Agron (Glee) as her daughter. I'm not personally a huge fan of the organized crime genre but both times La Pfeiffer married in (Scarface, Married to the Mob) the results were very very very good. So I'm hopeful.

P.S. If you'd like to keep an extra close watch on this production, Gorgeous Pfeiffer and The Face (the two best Pfan sites) are very much on it. (Thank you Morrissey & Fran!)

She never will, but she should be doing stage work. Chejov preferably.

Mala vita* is what lack of enthusiastic response to Pfeiffer's work gives us.

* sorry to any Italian reader for the poor attempt at playing with words.
