I think Twin Peaks was the first time I was fully aware of the importance of the soundtrack (so hypnotic), and even of the sound effects (the sound of that wind on the trees).
That said I found Laura Palmer's cousin incredibly disappointing once the shock effect was over.
Proof that David Lynch is actually a rather kind director. He was so enamoured by Sheryl Lee as a dead girl that he wrote a whole new character for the actress to play. And, in my opinion, she got one of my favourite scenes of the entire series, when she, Donna and James play the "Laura prank" on Doctor Jacoby.
