Sick In the City 2
I guess spending all day at the beach in ice cold water and bright sunlight after months of shut-in city dwelling is maybe not the best move? I'm totally sick today hence the lack of posting. I have a fever and I do nothing but sleep and watch bad television. [Cue violins]
This is how sick I am: When Sex and the City 2 came on cable earlier, I didn't even have enough energy to reach for the remote and the horror washed all over me again. Good Christ but that movie is atrocious. So much worse than I remember it being!
What's the worst movie you've subjected yourself to recently or again... and what's your excuse?

Lola Versus.
It's all Greta Gerwig's fault! I swear I wouldn't have even touched it if it weren't for her. But no, she had to go and pick *that* script.
I should be compassionate to your plight but I'm not. You chose the beach over The Master your fate was sealed ever since. I love the Twitter story of Susan Sarandon asking two strangers after the ending "What was that?" — you could be asking the same too but you can't.
The Darkest Hour, a bad movie made worse by how humourless it is. Emile Hirsch plays an American in Russia as it gets invaded by invisible light things, and then there's a submarine and a wacky inventor who discovers they're afraid of steel and people turning into ash. Like you, I was sick though the medicine I took made the movie's effects slightly more interesting.
Bruce Almighty - currently trying to bond with new roommates so i sucked it up and pretended to be excited to watch it .....
jim carrey sooooo doesn't do it for me .. am i alone here?
After being ordered to the couch after surgery, and taking some prescription meds, I actually let the Looney Tunes movie with Brendan Fraser play all the way through on tv. Godawful.
My darkest hour...
Even worse, I actually watched the Coen's Man Who Wasn't There not long after and can't even remember it. Curse those stupid pills!
Get well soon, Nat!
I just watched 'The Hunger Games' while hungover, after seeing it in the theatre. It is abysmal, a complete failure as both an adaptation and a movie. Although, it is somewhat fascinatingly bad - I actually would love to do scene-by-scene analysis of the ways it completely fails on every level.
Today, same as you and possibly even on the same HBO channel. Except mine was Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. It made me emotional but for the wrong reasons. There are about a couple or three great scenes though. And quel surprise , Sandra Bullock was actually kinda good. Still, major eyerolls were had throughout and the emotion manipulation was plain creepy.
I recently watched Batman & Robin again for my school's public speaking competition - I spoke on 'embracing our past because it shapes our future' since it was my favourite movie as a kid and started my obsession with the cinema.
I came second, which means I subjected myself to that travesty for nothing.
Get well soon, and hurry up and see The Master! The wait for it here in Australia is getting unbearable.
Oh Dear! Lately you're like one of kids of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Get well, watch Mamma Mia!
Chris E -- my violins shall play for you also. Batman & Robin? ouch.
Peggy Sue -- right? It's comical
Travis -- whatever that Brendan Fraser movie was i have successfully blocked its existence from my memory. I don't even know what you're talking about so I win. ;)
4rtful -- tough love, eh. It's true that it is unwise to ignore PT Anderson.
Had the same experience with SATC2 -- couldn't believe how horrifying it was. It's becoming one of those movies I must stop on every time it's shown to see if it's really as bad as I remembered--and it always is.
I try not to be subjected to movies I know will be bad. But two years ago I did see MACGRUBER in theaters for a friend's birthday. Last year, another birthday and THREE MUSKETEERS.
I'm still waiting for SATC 3. They can fix it by getting rid of Michael Patrick King (he's horrible now) and getting the female writers from the show back to write it.
The funniest review I read on Sex and the City 2 said: "There's no sex in it and nothing happens in the City. The only truth about that title is the #2"
God, Nate, I just did the same thing with SATC 2. It was way, way worse than when I saw it the first time.
The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd- With great actors like Zoe Wanamaker and Colin Firth in it how bad could it be? Very! Dark, dull and painfully boring.
I've never seen SATC2... And I've never wanted to see it more than I do after reading all these comments!
Mike when the best part of your movie is Liza Minnelli singing Single Ladies...
The girls trying to fight for women's right in Abu Dhabi through shopping is....horrific lol.
Oh dear lord but SATC2 is AWFUL. I watched most of it with my jaw on the floor. And yet, I will ALWAYS flip to it if it's on, to see if I was somehow wrong. Nope. It just gets more and more horrifying each time I see it.
I had one really interesting experience with watching a movie while sick. It was late at night, the Nyquil was just beginning to kick in but hadn't taken full effect, and I was watching Disney's The Princess and the Frog. I ended up drifting in and out and had to watch it again the next day to confirm that the film was just as surreally crazy as I thought it was. Turns out, that impression was not ENTIRELY caused by the meds! But in a good way...
