Married Ladies

Congratulations to Anne Hathaway on her wedding to the very lucky Adam Shulman. I don't know what I was thinking this morning when I didn't give her her own post. I have so many feelings.

Over the years my mortal fear of my favorite actresses "settling down" has mellowed. I blame The Bening in both cases. Never has an instant favorite of mine vanished as quickly as she did from the scene once she was pregnant with Warren Beatty's children. Then, years later, she came back to us better than ever; best case scenario! Other actresses seem to lose their drive as soon as marital and parental bliss hits (La Pfeiffer).

But it is what it is. You can't keep them locked up only releasing them from their gilded cage for the cameras and our entertainment. Turns out that's illegal!

More pics and "status" lists just for fun after the jump...

Do you love her dress? I do though I don't understand the headdress.

While we're on the subject of my favorite 29 year old actress (30 next month), let's look at her generation. Let's take the 28 to 33 year olds. That's the danger zone!!! For the most part we don't have to worry about the mid 20s. Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara, Amanda Seyfried and the rest? They're safely dating the big screen... for now.

But who is in danger of leaving us for child rearing and playing the good wife? Sometimes it's no great loss, make no mistake. I'm happy for Jessica Alba but I'm even happier for me that I no longer have to watch her wooden acting!

Now I feel a bit creepy. LOL.

I promise I don't normally care about their personal lives! I don't read tabloids or anything. But every once in a while I get curious and end up in these OCD info-gathering spirals -- I had no idea Rosario Dawson was dating Danny Boyle! -- but generally I am content to only think about them through their characters on the screen and their persona in public at awards shows and red carpet events.

Good for her!

I believe Kate Hudson's engaged to the awesome Matthew Bellamy (from Muse). And I personally believe that losing her endless series of awful romcom characters wouldn't be the end of the world, or that least it'd be much less grave than if he retired!

congrats to anne

hate to nitpick when I loved the post but Mulligan got married recently and Knightely is getting married soon.... just as she finally stopped annoying me and gave fantastic performances in Never Let Me Go and Dangerous Method

Carey Mulligan is married and possibly pregnant(?). Maybe no more 'Drive' or 'Shame' after a baby?

Regarding Anne Hathaway, the wedding gown is gorgeous. The headdress totally ruined it though. Do you think Hugh Jackman sang at her wedding reception?

I'm happy for Anne but resent the sexism of her film career prospects once she and I turn 30 on the 12th of November.

Michelle Williams, last I heard, has been dating Jason Segel. And yes, Mulligan is married to the lead singer of Mumford & Sons.

They seem to be in the middle of nowhere.

I just have to mention that, as an odd coincidence, Bride Wars happens to be on TV right now in Estonia.

Rosario Dawson and Danny Boyle? That's a surprise!
Congrats to Anne and Adam!

This is a creepy post, indeed xD.

I don't understand the thing in her head nor the setting. Is it a farm? Does she know what you find most commonly on the ground of farms? I guess not.
The thing in her head is because she's got short hair, I suppose. Or a homage to the masks in the Batman movie? Whatever that is, from so much distance it looks more like a head injury than an early 20th century outfit.

I don't find on these lists Jessica Chastain!
Where is she?

@ Peggy Sue

Now you are showing your ignorance... the Big Sur area and especially where they got married is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. The Ventana is incredible and people from all over the world travel to this area to eat and stay.

Know your facts before you put something down!

September 30, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterrick

You know how you always complain about movies where young actresses are paired with much older leading men? Well, you're engaged/dating list further perpetuates this stereotype. Danny Boyle, Sam Mendes and Noah Baumbach are 55, 47 and 43 respectively. Directors dating actresses a decade or younger than them...

@Peggy Sue

Excuse me for my comment about you ,, I read on another site that she had married in Big Sur ... not Nat's blog :(

I guess Reese Witherspoon is the bizarro comparison (married just when things were heating up). Divorced a year after winning Oscar.

And since ... not so much.

Well, she just got remarried and things look to be (possibly) improving.

I never knew Danny Boyle and Rosário Dawson were dating! Also had no idea about Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Perry.

Sam Mendes really does have a type doesnt he?

and Anna Kendrick with Edgar Wright!

The first and best acting partner of Anne Hathaway--Julie Andrews--turns 77 today. Happy Birthday, Julie. I'm still pizzed she didn't get nommed for Star! or Duet For One. Damn stupid bastards at the Academy. I do tend to hold a grudge regarding these matters.

October 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbrookesboy

I feel like there have been so many sudden celebrity pairings and inconspicuous marriages that I've been totally unaware of. Danny Boyle and Rosario Dawson? Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Perry?

You know what else is kind of cute (and random and a bit tangential)? Stanley Tucci was recently married to Emily Blunt's sister.
