Pajiba 15 pop culture moments that made us cry in 2012
Boy Culture continues their countdown of hottest actors of all time (#50-21) ranging from Buster Crabbe, to Tyrone Power through Christian Bale in this edition. But I've just been informed that Takeshi Kaneshiro is not on the list at all so someone will have to explain this word "hotness" to me!
Antagony & Ecstasy Tim shares his ten best of the year: Magic Mike, Oslo August 31st, Tabu and more... I wish I liked Oslo a bit more than I do but I'm thrilled that so many critics I like are suddenly enthused about Joachim Trier because I don't remember having much company when I was all "ohmygodeveryone Reprise !!!" a few years back.
Media Decoder on footing your own Oscar campaign. And no, this article is not about Ann Dowd. People do it every year.
Gawker Rich Juzwiack on the year in film. I've always loved Rich's writing but it's so weird to read a full "year in" piece in which I agree with quite literally nothing. haha

Maybe it's the word "actor" that is the problem and not "hotness" because Takeshi is clearly hot. Or maybe he's too pretty to be hot? But that doesn't make sense considering the other pretty boys they've listed. So I'm going with "actor" in the sense that this person has to have enough of an impact on the clearly American-centric listmakers. Does that help? And if not, at least you know you only have to share Takeshi with me, and, oh about a million Japanese schoolgirls. ;-)
Speaking of other hot Japanese actors: Ebizô Ichikawa!!
Dave -- how possessive are these theoreticaly Japanese schoolgirls? Is it safe to proceed with the Takeshi drooling?
Mr. Kaneshiro. Sigh.
Pretty possessive, but also pretty polite. You should be able to steamroll over them if you ever get the chance. ;-)
If it's any consolation, Nathaniel, you're Reprise excitement directed me to the movie, which I enjoyed quite a bit.
"Oslo, August 31st" is still in my mind days after seeing it. I love it.
I miss some Downton Abbey moments in those 15 pop culture moments that made us cry. The 3rd season has more teary moments than the first two together, too soapy for my taste. The only thing missing is someone pushing someone else down a staircase.
I must admit that my eyes also got wet when Amy Pond and Rory left Doctor Who, snif, snif.
And about that list of hot guys... I find myself too often wondering who's this guy? I mean, all lists are personal, particularly one like this one, but there're some obscure names who only made a handful of movies. Yes, they're hot, but so are porn stars.
iggy -- well we didn't get season 3 of downton abbey here in the States yet which explains its absence.
Sorry, I didn't know it. It's usually the other way round. We have to wait an entire season to get new Mad Men episodes. Luckily I didn't spoil anything, it was tempting commenting the moment Lady.... :)
