Holy Motoring in Reverse

I wonder...

Juliette Binoche in 'Lovers on the Bridge'

Guilliame Depardieu (RIP) in "Pola X"

...will all this top ten film critic affection for Leos Carax's Holy Motors redirect anyone to his earlier work? He's not prolific which makes maintaining one's reputation for brilliance easy but makes winning or maintaining a fanbase difficult.

Consider this a public service announcement. Do not under any circumstances miss Lovers on the Bridge or Pola X should you have a chance to see them. They're nearly as weird as Holy Motors and possibly even more magical. (FWIW Pola X is my favorite from his filmography)

I watched "Mauvais Sang" as a result of loving "Holy Motors" but I wasn't as taken by it as a whole even though I loved moments in it, especially Denis Lavant's rousing dance to "Modern Love." I'm hoping to see "Lovers on the Bridge." One thing about Carax is that he uses music brilliantly.

Leos Carax;s filmography is perfect: Boy meets girl, Mauvais Sang, les amants du pont neuf, Pola X, Holy Motors and even his short from Tokio, it;s nice to see a film from him for my generation I was just a boy when his others came out...

The scenes on the boat on the Seine in Lovers on the Bridge are just fantastic. Easily my favorite Paris moment in movies.

I'm not the biggest fan of Pola X, but Lovers on the Bridge might be my favorite movie from the 90s. Definitely what I consider Carax's best (Mauvais Sang is second).

I have all his films here to watch. Eventually. LOVERS ON THE BRIDGE is fantastic, though. Fan-freakin'-tastic.

Love his stuff so much my fiance and I are using the poster from Lovers on the Bridge for our wedding invitations and hiring accordion players to mimic the scene from Holy Motors at our ceremony. We shall have a very Carax-centric wedding. Very talented man.
