Scarlett even indirectly adresses what we were talking about on the last podcast, how she's totally become a more nuanced dimensional actress in the past couple of years:
JOHANSSON: I like doing voice work, and I've also become increasingly interested in pushing different parts of performance, whether it's a physical thing or a kind of vocal nuance, so this seemed like it would be an interesting thing to at least talk about...
ARONOFSKY: Did you think about what you were going to do with your voice in terms of what artificial intelligence might sound like? Or was the goal always just to be as present and natural with the performance as possible?
JOHANSSON: Well, one thing that Spike really emphasized was the fact that the character, Samantha, is really experiencing everything in the moment because she's developing, so she doesn't have any preconceived ideas of anything. Even her programming is not really preconceived—she has no opinion on anything until she forms it right then, in the moment. So Spike just wanted it to have a real levity and, I think, a curiosity. He also wanted that level of depth. So more than just the tone of the voice, which was ultimately sort of unimportant. With her, it was about finding the shape of things and building this character that's almost a babe—but just fresh out of the package in every way.
Fresh out of the package in every way, eh? That's how she feels as an actress of late. The change is 100 proof intoxicating.

I've been in love with ScarJo since 2003, when she handed us that 1-2 punch of Lost in Translation and Girl with the Pearl Earring, but even I admit that her career looked bleak with one failed rom/com after one more comic book movie. Thank the high heavens that this year has produced THREE quality projects that have tested her range and proved her talent. The year of ScarJo is upon us! I can't wait to see what she does next.
I love ScarJo and not just because she's gorgeous. She's a complete artist. I know a lot people don't, but I actually like her music.
Andrew: Personally? ScarJo as Black Widow in Iron Man 2 compared to her as Black Widow in The Avengers is almost comparable to the performance quality leap of Linda Hamilton between The Terminator and T2. Big blockbusters like The Avengers (A-), Iron Man 3 (B+) or Man of Steel (F, F, F a thousand times over. Nat: If they cut at Amy Adams Lois cradling Cavill's "Man of Paranoia", I'd agree with a C or C- score, but the idea that he just has one cry and then goes along entirely disaffected by what he did?) are just as able to be good or bad as "artistic" and "uncommercial" movies like The Wedding Banquet (C-), What Time is it There (D) or Withnail and I (A+)

I think she's genuinely terrific in Don Jon. I have never enjoyed her that much. Okay, maybe in the Coppola.

I so dig her singing too! After, I think her voice is a big part of how sexy she is. Reason why I'm dying to see Her .
Her Tom Waits album is a favourite of mine.
You know who I think Scarlett's modelling her career on? NICOLE KIDMAN. Both started out as respected actors in small films who then got gobbled up by Hollywood which didn't quite know what to do with. Although Scarlett's a bit younger than Kidman was and she hasn't had her TO DIE FOR moment yet, both actors went to the stage after a bout of creative difficulties and then rebounded back onto the screen with a collection of mainstream and super arthouse titles including one by Jonathan Glazer. If ScarJo decides to star in a musical... all bets are off.
