The Link World

Film.com asks rapper "Riff Raff" to review James Franco's "Alien" in Spring Breakers, allegedly based on him.
My New Plaid Pants "The Golden Trousers" are in full swing. You'd be crazy to miss them. I mean they feature...
"The Great Gratuities" for one thing !
Ultra Culture hosted a Spring Breakers screening with a Britney Spears sing-along

/Film if you'd like to see the Before Midnight trailer. I am personally not going to watch it before the movie. I want every moment to feel fresh and in the now. I don't normally feel this adamant but these movies are special, once in a decade events.
Cinematic Corner appreciates Lee Pace in all his elfen, daisy pushing, soldier girl, still-waiting-for-big-break glory. Someone needs to!
THR Harry Knowles of Aint it Cool fame is attempting a comeback in the web landscape he helped create
In Contention see, even Will Smith knows that Christoph Waltz was the LEAD in Django Unchained (Damn you category fraud, damn you! Tommy Lee Jones shoulda had that Oscar)

The great illustrator Glen Hanson came up with my favorite image -- as hundreds flooded facebook profiles this week -- in support of Marriage Equality. Obviously Diana of the Amazons would approve of sapphic unions!

Season 1... remembered vividly. If you're not here to make friends...
It's funny but I just realized now, reading Joe Reid's ranking of the 27 Season of The Real World, which he amusingly calls his "life's work" that one of the reasons I've never been a reality show person is I do actually like to make friends and don't actually relish watching people being assholes or, the great lying rationalization, "keeping it real". Unless some kickass screenwriter is writing the assholery, I find it a bore. ANYWAY... I honestly had no idea this show was still airing. But Joe's huge-ass loving ode to its highlights and foibles was a good read. For the record I only watched Season 1 religiously (even taping and rewatching -- unthinkable now) though I saw the bulk of S2 (instant hatred... the worst fall from grace I've ever experienced on television, turning instantly from interesting social experiment to utterly manufactured cash grab) and S3 (compelling but by then I was deeply suspicious and never watched again). Or did I?. Joe's details bring back very vague memories from Seasons 4-10 that I had convinced myself that I hadn't even seen one episode of. Oh, the shame of it all!

Thank you so much for the link! I'm glad Lee has so many fans, despite the overdue big break that for some reason hasn't happened yet.

'It's still there.
It's still there.
Gone.'

Cut to Beau crying like a baby.

Pushing Daisies was technically Lee Pace's breakthrough. He did get Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for that. Too bad the Writers Guild Strike annihilated any momentum the show had after its first season. It still hurts.

I'm not a violent person. The only physical fight I've ever been in was with my brother. That said, someone spoils any part of Before Sunset for me, it's on.

How can anyone here concern themselves with an actor's career? They'll always have the opportunity to breakout in the mist of advancing age, but actresses, if they're not foreigners or Meryl Streep are fucked from the same courtesy.

Pushing Daisies coming to an end got me so upset. That show was so romantic. I used to actually swoon with some of those great Ned and Chuck moments. Those two most certainly had chemistry.

I hated how the series finale was so truncated. I know they didn't have time before the show got cancelled to create a fitting end, but i was disappointed anyway.

I saw Soldier's Girl a while back and he was so great in that. Troy Garity too. I remember being so surprised when i found out that that Troy was Jane Fonda's son.

and i caved and saw the Before Midnight trailer. I needed to see *something* to appease my anticipation. I guess i know a little bit of the story now but i don't even care.

I felt so "grown up" watching "The Real World" when I was a kid. We didn't have cable, so I'd sneak to my cousins' house who did and watched reruns after school. Eric and Julie, Heather, Norman, Becky, yeah, it takes me back. I think I aged out by the time they went back to New York, but those first 10 seasons were money (though let's all try to forget the European debacles, and the less said about LA, the better). MTV was just doing a Retro Weekend of MTV reruns last weekend, and I got caught up in the San Francisco season with Rachel and Judd and Puck's awfulness and was brought to tears again with Pedro's plight (I remember his nuptials to Sean and being so happy for him at the time; the fact that we're still debating gay marriage in the SUPREME COURT is depressing). I think after the highs of Miami and Seattle, Las Vegas was just too much. Now I couldn't remotely tell you a single thing about any of the casts. I even watched some of those "RW/RR Challenges" for awhile now, but even that's at the point where I don't know anyone anymore, save maybe Tonya, Derek, Johnny Bananas, C.J., etc. The newbies make me feel very old. But I've aged out of MTV so long ago, and now what's the point of the network who would rather play reruns of "Teen Moms" and "Awkward" than actual music videos. "Get off of my lawn!" LOL. That's what's next for me now. Good times.

From what I hear James Franco didn't even base Alien on Riff Raff but on Dangeruss. I've heard of the former but not the latter, because if I've heard of both, my hipster detector would explode.

"Pushing Daisies" was not the big break for him. He is reportedly set to star in a new show on AMC - a career-move that did wonders for Bryan Cranston (and to a degree, for Jon Hamm as well). So, as a big fan of Lee, I wish that his career will improve similarly. More Spielberg, less Twilight.

Will Smith is an egotistical moron. Yes he would have been a co-lead but he would have gotten to kill the real villain of the piece. Plus I would have bet the world that he would have been nominated for best actor because everyone would have been talking about how brave he was for taking on such a controversial project and role. Plus the box office would have been even larger than it already was. I wish he would just come out and say the truth - he was scared of what it might do to his image and his family audience. Or better yet, who the bell cares what will smith has to say about anything.

March 28, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersean

It sounds like that's just a way for Smith to say that the character was thin and underdeveloped. I agree.

Regardless, I would have enjoyed the film a whole lot less if Will Smith were in it (and I loved it). I can't stand that smug no-talent moron.

As much as Django was a co-lead in his eponymous titled movie, I am pretty certain Will Smith just did not want his image or brand harmed in the process with lines like, "Kill white people for a living? What's not to like?" He still is about his family man brand but he did not have to be disrespectful to Jamie Foxx, who really did the best he could. But I agree with sean, part of the fun of Django was the shock in SLJ and DiCaprio in their roles. Will Smith would be the same and probably would have been nominated (taking either Denzel or Joaquin's spot) because it was the against type role. Jamie Foxx never posited himself as a family man or matinee idol but I am comfortable declaring he is a much stronger actor.

And speaking of actors we like with shows on AMC, Mark Strong is leading an upcoming show. Really under-appreciated character actor who I am convinced can do anything so I will keep tabs on him. Plus, unlike his compatriots on The Walking Dead, can pull off a convincing American accent.

Lol at Suzanne's post. Not a Will fan either lol
