Top Ten Unseen Hits

Is this "top ten day" annoying you yet? Every once in a while I like to look at the "yearly" charts to see which films are the most popular with the general public... i.e. that strange undulating shape-shifting mass of terror that inflicts so many terrible sequels, reboots, derivative horror flicks, and Adam Sandler movies on us. That blob of horror doesn't even get adventurous within genres it freaking loves. Why don't they flock to like The Boxtrolls instead of The Nutjob, you know? Why The Purge movies and not, like, The Babadook?
Here are the 10 biggest hits of 2014 once you subtract all the film's Nathaniel has seen and the ones that aren't yet on DVD. You may force him to watch something and write about it by voting. You can choose two films.

I voted for both "don't do this to yourself" and Non Stop, because assigning you a Julianne Moore movie isn't a punishment. I actually really liked the first half... I just wish I could rewrite the rest. Still, it's a decent boring afternoon sit with some fun moments from a few good actors.
The others though... yikes. I'm just glad Guardians, Captain America and The Lego Movie range from really good to, well, awesome. :-)
Eva Green is so much fun in the 300 sequel, it gets you through
Wow, that is a terrible list to choose from! But the two that are miles ahead is Non-Stop and the Other Woman!!! Both are decent.
Non-stop is thrilling enough and with a good cast.
And the Other Woman is a lot of fun. Cameron Diaz and especially, Leslie Mann are both great in it! There's one conversation that makes it pass the Bechdel test - probably making it the only film on that list that does pass! I'd recommend this over Non-Stop, since there aren't any interesting performances in Non-Stop, even from Julianne.

I haven't seen a single one of those films, but I suggested the 300 sequel and The Monuments Men for you. Maybe I should check them out myself. (What is Heaven Is For Real?)

Paul Outlaw: It's an uncritical take on the Colton Burpo story. And yes, that's not the most tasteful way to have brought this to the screen, but we can thank Randal "Secretariat" Wallace for it, because he co-wrote and directed the thing.
Tim: YES. God's Not Dead. That'll be a goldmine.
Monuments Men isn't terrible. How's that for a half-hearted reason to see it!

I voted like eurocheese. Don't do this and Nonstop.
The only two I've seen are Nonstop and The Monuments Men, which just made me sad at its lost possibilities.
Please see some more foreign films and indie films and let us know about them.
i voted for Ninjas and 300. If you are going to torture yourself, at least you can fantasize about being a hero or doing a hero.
I'm the ridiculous part of the 18% that actually liked Trans4mers. I've seen it twice now and I actually think its weirdly brilliant in its gung-ho cockiness. I also voted for 300 Rise of an Empire because Eva Green is brilliant in it.
I voted for 300 Rise Of An Empire because men in skirts are brilliant (especially when they're wearing not much else), and for it's feisty fierce French female. Plus, I love History.
I have seen each and every one of these movies, and enjoy quite a lot of them. Don't judge, LOL. I'm genuinely surprised (and relieved) I'm not the only one from your devout followers who enjoy The Other Woman a lot, even wrote a piece about it and compared it to The First Wives Club.
From the list, I would vote for Transformers and Monuments Men. It's not a punishment, trust me. Please do an "Unnecessary Fourth Film" article after you watch Transformers (and the article should include Pirates 4, Bourne 4 and Indy 4), and watch Monuments Men for Dimitri Leonidas.
After the previous instalment of TRANSFORMERS, I decided that I wasn't going to waste any more of my precious time here on the planet with other Michael Bay entries in the franchise. Not even if you rope Wahlberg in (an actor I quite like).
Non-Stop is one of the best films of the year. No joke.
I voted for 300 because, like others have said, at least you have a) eye candy and b) Eva Green.
I voted for Non-Stop because I saw it and it's pretty fun (plus, Lupita!) as well as Transformers because I figure it's most likely to get an Oscar nom (though eek! It sounds awful).
Gross, Don't Do This To Yourself is pretty handily in the lead. Is that the new John Cusack movie?
I have decided never again to see a movie with a superhero in it, out of principle. I am restricting myself to movies made for grown-ups. That is why I have only seen five movies this year. (Incidentally, I am in Houston, so the majority of films this and other sites rave about may never play here, or will play one week in one theatre.)
