I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going to Link It Anymore

CHUD James Franco to direct a film based on the making of bad movie everyone obsesses over which I haven't seen The Room. You guys, I can't even with Franco's lack of focus. I mean I don't dislike him. I think he's interesting but he is way too scattered.
In Contention on Santa Barbara's Robert Redford tribute
Guardian Valentino makes a gauche error, pimping the fact that Amy Adams carried a Valentino bag to PSH's funeral stating they didn't know it was a funeral photo. Um, everyone is in black and they look abso-depressed
MNPP who knew that Fran Kranz from Dollhouse had that chest under his clothes and why on earth didn't Joss Whedon exploit it on that oft-horny show?

Coming Soon Gravity becomes only the third film (after Avatar and The Dark Knight Rises) to earn over $100 million from IMAX screenings alone
Variety the ongoing saga of "Alone Yet Not Alone" continues. It's now selling briskly and nominated for the faithbased MovieGuide Awards

Salon talks to the director of The Great Beauty on Italy's Oscar dreams. (For those who are not aware Italy has the most Oscars in the Foreign Film category though France has the most nominations.)
Slate "You Still Have Control" Samantha Geimer ("The Girl in the Shadow of Roman Polanski") once again proves herself the smartest most well adjusted and least hysteric person in the room when it comes to the topic of sexual abuse cases - and she lived it! This is a must read for anyone who has struggled to move on from past traumas.

And the Most Terrifying News of the Week
We're hearing from Coming Soon that John Travolta will be playing Gummy Bear, or Gummibear if you prefer or are European, in an upcoming animated film version of the yummy treat. The character designs look hateful, really and not much like the actual food stuff.

Frankly, I don't see the point in a Gummy Bear movie when the deliciousness was already twice immortalized via Robot Chicken and Hedwig and the Angry Inch...

Luther: You must like candy.
Hansel: I like Gummi Baerchen

How is it that James Franco has directed at least 8 feature length films considering that at least 4 of them received no distribution and the other 4 received poor or poor to mixed reviews AND they all lost money. How come this guy gets so many opportunities yet you hear about so many other filmmakers-- some of them also movie stars-- who can't get any funding for their movies.

Isn't James Franco also teaching an acting course in LA? How does he fit it all in?

I still like James Franco, and I'm hoping that doing live theatre will give him more focus. Having to do 8 shows a week, night after night, having consistent energy and concentration and physical and mental stamina would be great discipline. He's supposed to do Of Mice And Men (?) if that comes off. I admit, I'm a little doubtful that he has, at this time, the skills to do an extended run. But I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Seriously a movie about "The Room" ?! Doesn't Mr Franco have better things to do ?!

I actually often find myself thinking that this site really needs to cover, or at least mention 'The Room'. It is such a unique behemoth who's legacy should be celebrated by my favorite film website. I am one of those people who has seen it about 30 times and who very much looks forward to the next 30. It never fails to make me ecstatic. I wonder very much if it would have the same effect on you, Nathaniel.

I remember reading trivia on "Cabin in the Woods", and that the reason that Fran Kranz doesn't take his shirt off in the lake scene is because he had an even better body than Chris Hemsworth and Jesse Williams (if you can imagine such a thing!), and that it wouldn't make sense for the comic relief/stoner character to be so ripped. And in an unnecessary personal note, for the pst ten months I have been in love with a boy who is a dead-ringer for Chris Hemsworth, BUT ONLY IN THAT MOVIE. It is the weirdest phenomenon.
