The Normal Heart trailer. Will this be yet another TV movie that we have to wonder how it would have fared at the Oscars had it been released theatrically? At the very least the doctor role would've resulted in a nomination no matter who played it. That's the part once slated for Barbra Streisand decades ago with Julia Roberts taking over for Ellen Barkin who won the Tony on Broadway (why wasn't she asked to reprise it given her connections to Ryan Murphy?) so expect Julia at least to be up for the Emmy.
Exit Question: Is it just me or does the type here inadvertently imply or perhaps subliminally predict that Matt Bomer and Taylor Kitsch will one day be Oscar nominated actors?

Spielberg is so NOT the right director for Kushner's material. Are they the next Leo and Marty?
The idea of Julia Roberts playing a doctor always makes me giggle a little.
A prestigious movie made by an openly gay director with openly gay actors playing gay men? Wow! Count me in. It is unfortunate it won't be released in theatres, but it will still get lots of awards attention from the Emmys/GG.
Judgmental Map apparently made by a Brooklynite.
LOL on the Exit Question, but no. That means Jim Parsons isn't a main character and you only fuck with Julia's "AND" status if you're Meryl Streep.
I was disappointed at the gay reaction to the trailer in my twitter feed. Mostly heeee Groff kissing
Kitsch instead of the emotional punch the trailer ends on...come on people.
Re Normal Heart----I really like the play, done it several times and seen it several more. I was missing the anger that runs the narrative in that trailer. I'm trusting Kramer (such a nice man and so talented), but I don't know. The trailer leaves me wondering.
Enjoyed Radcliffe. "My 9th birthday........"
Ugh, was pulling for Kirsten Dunst getting lots of great movie offers after Melancholia, but she lost me with those awful quotes. People who are harrassed invite it, really? Gross.
eurocheese -- not sure what you mean about Jim Parsons but he is a main character. Ned (Ruffalo) is the focal point but it's very much an ensemble. Ned and his friends and frenemies and their struggles during the crisis.
Ah, OK. I thought Ruffalo/Bomer were the central characters.
Omg Sharon Stone!!! She has such an incredible voice... People don't realize the thingsshe can do with the right role.... Love her to pieces
daisy - I do think Kiki's first comment about men "being men" and women "being women" is incredibly ignorant and stupid, and although her second comment was stupid, the question was about sleeping with directors to get ahead. I don't think she's saying women who get harassed "ask for it," but women who sleep with director's for roles invite it. Still very stupid and sexist, but not as offensive as saying sexual assault victims "ask for it." But that's just how I took.
Either way, yikes Kirsten. You're on a roll. She's my favorite actress so I'm having a tough time with this, lol. There goes any chance of getting an Oscar nod any time soon.
An Ethel Merman biopic would be a great entry to the "Cast This!" series. I can't think of any actress currently working with a style that even remotely resembles Merman (well, maybe Patti LuPone, if you stretch it), so we'd get some fine against-type suggestions! Personally, I would love it to see Queen Latifah's take, so it would have to be something a la Dreamgirls/The Rose type project. And for extra awesomeness they could get Tracy Morgan to play the Ernest Borgnine equivalent.
OMG Sharon Stone as Mrs. Robinson is such PERFECT casting that I almost want a remake of The Graduate just to see her in that role. And yes, I'm fully aware of how sacrilegious that is.
