Beauty Break: "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink"
Mean Girls Week Begins! For the next seven days (betwixt the normal blogging) we'll be dropping in occasionally on the students of North Shore High to celebrate 10 years of Mean Girls which opened April 30th, 2004.
For now please to enjoy this very pink gallery with a lavender note from Damian...
Remember when Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams both had pink hair? That must have been so annoying to dye it back to its natural color each Thursday morning
Lacey Chabert had very pink lighting at her wedding!
Amy Poehler & John Krasinksi doing Andie & Ducky from Pretty in Pink
Lizzy Caplan doesn't do pink (good girl). This was the closest I could come photo-wise to her wearing anything pink unless a costume designer forced her hand.

And speaking of pink... okay lavender, Did you know both of Mean Girls male stars are gay? I've never officially seen it confirmed or denied from Jonathan Bennett (aka Aaron Samuels himself) and lord knows that gossipy entertainment blogs are always 1000% accurate but supposedly Jonathan Bennett is gay and out. Here he is in a recent movie Strictly Single (2013) -- love the pink bow tie.
Daniel Franzese who played "too gay to function" Damian came out of the closet yesterday in an letter to his character that every gay actor should read
When I was cast in the role of “Damian” in ‘Mean Girls,’ I was TERRIFIED to play this part. But this was a natural and true representation of a gay teenager - a character we laughed with instead of at. (You can thank Tina Fey and Mark Waters for that. I can only take partial credit.)
When we first made this movie, I’m not sure any of us knew how loved and quoted this movie would become. You certainly hope when you pour your heart into something, that people will respond - but to paraphrase Gretchen Wieners, “we can’t help it that we’re so popular.”
So, why the hell did it take me so long to come out of the closet?

I can't believe Mean Girls is 10 years old. That makes me feel kind of ancient. Although any excuse to talk about Mean Girls for a week straight isn't one I'm going to complain about. I'm pretty sure this movie had a stronger formative effect on my personality than both of my parents.
I guess I'll have to eventually watch this and Easy A.
3rtful: No one needs to watch Easy A. But Mean Girls is a lot of fun - and 10th anniversary week seems as good a time as any.
We WEAR pink lol
80s: heathers..... 90s: clueless...... 00s: mean girls..... best teen comedies of all time
Daniel Franzene's Facebook page showed me that he's become a stone-cold fox. Woof. Good for him.
I've always wanted to like "Mean Girls" as much as everyone else, but I have never been able to get past the "eh" factor. I have to assume that I was not the target demographic.
typo -- OY. i had a brain tumor for breakfast
I think Valley Girl is just as trippendicular as Heathers. Heathers isn't the only brilliant teen movie of the 80s. Nathaniel needs to conduct a poll or something. This needs to be settled once and for all!!!!
Lovely letter from Franzese. I'm proud of him.
It's more gossip but still-- a (straight) friend of mine was hit on by Aaron Samuels back when we were in college so yeah, he's a gay. Yay (though I prefer the 2004 version to the one in that picture).
Nat, have you never seen Lizzy Caplan in PARTY DOWN? She wears an outfit very similar to what Jonathan Bennett is wearing up top, complete with pink bow tie.
