Yay, podcast! So excited to hear more about the films from Cannes, especially the noncompetition titles, which are hard to find reliable coverage for. Curious about the Director's Fortnight films that Guy saw. And I'm happy to report that the US rights to White God got picked up by Magnolia Pictures, so hopefully that gets released soon.
And a big Mandy Patinkin holla to that Channing Tatum talk. That is some serious selective amnesia critics have got going on. Magic Mike was literally two years ago.
Every photo of Xavier Dolan I see I have two thoughts A) he's hot and B) he clearly knows he's hot.

So very much appreciate this episode, especially after the last one where we got to know what the hell was actually going on with some of the titles.
I honestly could've listened to Guy talk endlessly about all the films he saw, good or bad. I was especially curious about what he thought of the Dardenne Bros' since Marion got those notices and the film was pretty universally loved despite going home empty handed. Ah, well, I guess we'll know in time. Very interesting what he did have to say about Winter Sleep, Julianne and White God tho.
I remember Sasha Stone did a very introspective Cannes podcast episode last year on her site where she pretty much went through the good, the bad and the ugly about all aspects of the festival. Really shined a light on the desperation, endless waiting and brushes with fame that happens regularly there. To say nothing of the delicious gossip from each of the major screenings. I would've loved to have heard Guy's side of this coin.
