Lady Gaga Isn't the Only One Who Loves "The Sound of Music"

Be here a week from tomorrow for the season premiere of Hit Me With Your Best Shot when we look at the classic Julie Andrews... or, rather, the classic Julie Andrews in between her other classics. the one where she spins on a mountain top (though hopefully not everyone picks that opening scene)

I'm sure it wasn't what she was going for, but between the wig, the ridiculous accent, the swaying, and those arm movements, I was chortling with glee all throughout this performance. It was HILARIOUS.

This just may have resurrected her flailing career esp with Madonna on the horizon.
Can she ever go back to just dancing,while pulling a poker face crying over a bad romance whilst admitting she's born this way and waiting for her applause as she dances cheek to cheek,see what i did there.
At the party I was at, we kept waiting for the dress to come off to show some Liederhosen or Nazi uniform or something. however, with just her singing, she wowed over the party goers, and everyone loved it by the end, with that spoonful of sugar of Julie Andrews to make it all the better!

You know, as proven by her Tony Bennett duets, this woman can sing. She doesn't always need to be a performance artist, and the wig and accent should have been enough for the audience who wanted more drama.
I was mildly.......... and then enthusiastically surprised and pleased. She did R & H justice, thank you Lady Gaga.
When Lady Gaga appeared on stage I was expecting a train wreck. A super pop singer tackling the Sound of Music???
And then she opened her mouth and WOW!
She outdid Pink from last year - and maybe we'll see a trend of pop/rock stars - with hideous tattoos - singing classic Hollywood standards. Pink did Wizard of Oz proud last year and last night Lady Gaga did same with Sound of Music.

This entire part of the show had me on the edge of my seat. When Gaga came out and started singing, it was magical. And then her voice just got bigger and bigger. It was astonishing. And just when I thought I would faint from admiration and emotion, then walked out Julie. My heart just about stopped. What a glorious moment in Oscar history!
Julie Andrews is everything.
I felt that this performance was spectacular. My first thought was that we need a revival of The Sound of Music starring Gaga STAT.
However, in the day since then, I've actually decided that it's time Broadway revived another classic musical, one whose main character is always difficult to cast: Hello Dolly! And I think Gaga, with her larger-than-life persona, would be *perfect* for Dolly Levi.
That was a major moment -- I had no idea she was such a good mimic!
This was, for me, the highlight of the ceremony. I'd never been much of a fan of Lady Gaga before, but last night she blew me away!
Lady Gaga needs to make a movie musical NOW!
I'd buy her Broadway standards album in a hot minute.
Of all the Zadan-Meron hubris is pushing musicals of dubious connection to these ceremonies (worst offender: The Smash song), there was finally something to write home about. They must feel red in the face when they made their live musical with Carrie Underwood after they heard Gaga sing. And even though Julie Andrews deserved to present Best Picture more than Sean 'I hate these things until they give me a soapbox' Penn, I'm glad that unlike Judy's kids she wasn't strapped to her seat, got to thank Gaga and put the cherry on top of Alexandre Desplat's night.
This might be because I neither understand the popularity of The sound of music nor of Lady Gaga, but I was just distracted by the horrible wig and the arm waving and towards the end of the performance actually bored.
