Are you joining us for the Amadeus edition of 'Best Shot' Wednesday night? Have u thought of a question for this week's Ask Nathaniel? Have you listened to the podcast on '79 Oscar nominees? I'm so proud of the latter. It came out so well. One never knows if a film year might spark truly interesting conversations but this one did. Thanks to the panelists again.

If none of these topics are on your mind, what is? Sound off on anything. You know what to do.

That was indeed a great podcast. The evolution of the Smackdown has been a thing to behold.
I've got Saint Laurent on my mind, which I saw recently and kind of loved, although I recognize its flaws. Two things stand out (besides the clothes and the sets and the Ulliel and the Garrel. 1. It confirmed my abiding love for Jeremie Renier, who had a less interesting character to play, and I still find him so watchable. J'adore. And 2. It had the misfortune of being at Cannes the same year as White God, because Moujik should have been a shoo-in for the Palme Dog! I've never seen a dog actor act a scene like he did.

Have you ever preferred a supporting actress 5 to a best actress 5.

Do you have a favorite year for Supporting Actress?

There is a quote from Rob Reiner when asked about his then discovery Kathy Bates, he where suggest she'll have a long career similar to Maggie Smith and Vanessa Redgrave. I feel, because of the continuous attention she receives from most award bodies, Kathy Bates is indeed in the Maggie Smith phase of her career. Where she is beloved for simply showing up and showing off whenever the role allows it. Would you agree she is the veteran American character actress equivalent to Smith or, do you believe someone else like Frances McDormand fits that description more accurately? Another possible name to add is Dianne Wiest.

You have just been hired as a casting director for a motion picture and you have to cast three actresses in the leading roles and they're oscar caliber parts (a la The Hours) who would you cast? Oh and to make it a little more difficult I want it to have a little diversity to.

Who were your choices for Featured Actress & Actor in a Musical?

I want to sit down and cry for three days that I'm actually living in New York and couldn't get tickets to tonight's staging of Bombshell. Megan performing as Marilyn....live. I can't.

I'm hoping some delightful person at least has some cell phone video that they'll upload to YouTube.

I have come to believe that both Angela Bassett and Kimberly Elise are both phenomenal actresses but is there a role you would love to see them tackle? Or a director you love to see them work with?

Why does the new Rickie and the Flash trailer excise rock and Audra MacDonald? Are they going Mamma Mia! feel? I hope for some actual teeth here. They should only do one more trailer showing Meryl do one hot rock number, like that great TDWP trailer that showed a whole (almost) scene. It totally put you in the movie as a teaser.

Are there other actors besides Rose Byrne who have made you change your mind about them so drastically for the better? If I remember correctly, you used to be actively annoyed by her pre-Bridesmaids, back when she was in the strictly miserable phase of her career.

Watched Key Largo in preparation for the next Smackdown. 1 down, three to go! No trouble finding I Remember Mama or Johnny Belinda.

Excited to hear who will be on the next panel.

I like the 3rtful question and would only add that women writers are beginning to gain power, and they will write amazing stories for men and women (and not just three to five good parts per year for the minority lady baseball team of Jennifer, Angelina, Meryl, Jessica C., Marion, the chubby girl, Meliissa, Helen, or Scarlett - only 8 allowed per SAG).

With a lot of really strong trailers for high profile fall films coming out, I've been thinking how much I'd like to just fast forward past all the remaining summer movies (ok, not Jurassic world or inside out) and get to the likes of the Martian, Everest, bridge of spies, Macbeth, and all the festival films that haven't made it to the states yet... This has been a great movie year so far. Really excited to see how things develop through the end of the year.

Been thinking about directors who have huge budgets and make rather dull movies in that their creativity gets lost (Ridley Scott is one of them)-which director do you think would have the most to gain by doing a movie with a lower budget (and with that a bigger creative freedom)?

Ask Nathaniel: Yesterday I watched Patrice Leconte's "A Promise" (2013), and thought Richard Madden was damn good (haven't watched Cinderella yet). Especially given his Fassy resemblance (bone structure and voice), do you have any opinion or aspiration about him kickin' some movie and/or awards ass?

It's all about Emily Blunt this week. I saw Sunshine Cleaning and TDWP again recently, then I found a bootleg of Into the Woods on youtube while I was working, then we get HBO free for some reason and I watched the tail-end of End of Tomorrow late last night. Is there anything she can't do? Plus she's awesome on the Red Carpet, a delight on talks shows, and seems utterly charming. Looking forward to Sicario and next year's The Huntsman.

Monkey, my current dream project for Angela Bassett is a remake of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? with Viola Davis because why not?

I saw Spy yesterday, which is the most fun I've had watching a movie in the theatre in a long time. The entire ensemble in uniformly phenomenal, and without giving anything away, I love the decision Melissa McCarthy's character makes at the end.

Amadeus' Oscars - deserved or not? Anyone from the movie that should have been nominated instead?
