SDCC Day 2: Star Wars Episode VII Mixes Old & New

And the word of day two was: Star Wars! Any other events that may have taken place Friday were completely overshadowed by the evening Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel, for which fans camped in line over 24 hrs. (Adorably, JJ Abrams bought the Hall H line donuts.)
The panel was a blend of tradition and technology designed to quell fears and excite fan hearts. New castmembers (not Lupita, alas) made appearances on the panel shoulder-to-shoulder with animatronic puppets AND the original trio: Mark Hammill, Carrie Fisher, and (surprise) Harrison Ford himself. Instead of a trailer, Abrams brought a behind-the-scenes look at the The Force Awakens, which stresses even further the blending of old and new. Watch for a first glimpse of Leia, a lot of practical effects, and Lupita Nyong'o (who appears briefly at roughly the 1 minute mark).
So, Star Wars fans: does this video awaken the force within you? Or do you still fear the film's fall into the dark side?

i was not remotely excited about this until learning how much practical fx and actual sets and puppets they're using. YAY. so sick of overreliance on weightless CGI.
The video was great but I was excited about this film when it was announced in 2012, so it didn't suddenly get me on board. In saying that, they may be laying on the practical/tactical thing a little too thick at this point.
Again, I'm already on board so it doesn't bother me but there is a point when they're gonna have to show their hand in terms of what the story is going to be like (at least for the more casual viewers, anyway). Obviously, the next trailer will do that but I think it would've been cool to give a decent idea of what the plot will be.
Yes. I am so excited about this movie, but then again, who isn't?
And I heard that after the panel, the whole hall was instructed to go somewhere else to a Star Wars concert! Now that sets a whole new bar level for Comic-Con.
The Force is strong with this one. And on the Good side. I await to see Princess Leia showcase her skills. I bet she is in the level of.... Yoda.
I wasn't too excited about the movie, but man, my inner Star Wars geek went into hyperdrive seeing this and now I can't wait.
Now I have to remind myself that I must keep my expectations low, so the movie will not break my heart.
I love "Star Wars", and nothing they did with the last three films or do with the next one will ever take that away. Nothing. So I will be there regardless of what shows up in teaserville.
