This is a rhetorical question, right?

We'll come tonight if you'll be there, Carol. Jeezus.

On a scale of 1-20 how sick are you of waiting for the new Todd Haynes masterwork*? I finally get to see this on Monday... so Cate is just teasing me with this gif (with its "Sunday" nonsense) which I stole from The Tracking Board**

For the record icymi: Carol has an earlier release date than it once had and now arrives in limited release on November 20th. It screens as part of the New York Film Festival in October.

*presumed, but it's Todd Haynes so such presumptions are historically based.

** The Tracking Board lists Carol as a movie they'll skip in theaters and watch on Netflix later. They are either a) insane or b) have never experienced a Todd Haynes movie on the big screen and either way we feel terribly for them.

I love Cate Blanchett, but I would kill to see Julianne Moore in this role...or maybe Nicole Kidman or Naomi Watts

I'm seeing it Monday too! Can't wait.

Love your "*" explanation. You're right, precedent is on our side when it comes to Haynes.

I know you have mixed feelings on Blanchett in general. However, what are your feelings on Rooney Mara in general?

September 24, 2015 | Unregistered Commenter/3rtful

I think Nat's feelings about Cate Blanchett have warmed considerably since Blue Jasmine. It would surprise me if similar feelings about Rooney Mara existed given her morose red carpet behavior and sketchy filmography. (She does look ravishing in Carol though.)

I'm at 19.5 by now though I have to be patient a little longer. CAROL opens in Australia on 14 JANUARY 2016. How's that for a long wait?!!

Though not as bad as 45 YEARS and BROOKLYN, which open 4 and 11 February respectively, over a year after their festival premieres.

Steve G -- i weep for you.

Oh I'm at least 1000, but the wait is almost over.So excited I'm seeing this at London film festival with Cate and Todd attending. I can just slip away after that.

Seriously, the teaser trailer had me at the first notes of "Foolish Heart". The countdown begins to finish the book before the film.

Speaking of LGBT centered novels waiting for a film treatment, Andrew Holleran's classic "Dancer from the Dance" is happening and being helmed by Alan Poul (Six Feet Under). Will the often thrown around film treatment for that other 70's novel "The Front Runner" ever happen?

I'm seeing this at NYFF, but not for another couple of weeks. I am very excited. I just finished reading the book it is adapted from, and it's a real knockout.

September 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRoark

Yeah Im seeing it in 2 weeks right before I see Miles Ahead. Im pretty excited. Though some of the reviews make me feel I might not love it as much, but that expectation can only help right?

Is that Lypsinka?

Honestly it's nonsense to say anyone but Cate should've played this role -- when I read the book a dozen years ago she was the only actress I could picture in the part then, well before she was anywhere near attached, and she's remained the only actress I could picture in the role ever since, up to and through it actually becoming a reality. It's just an inescapable bulls-eye, always meant to be.
