Marvel reveals the end credits music on Doctor Strange. It sounds kind of lava lamp funky with a touch of warped vinyl. I don't know. I can't describe music.
i09 Taika Waititi promises that Thor: Ragnarok is "out there crazy" and that Marvel was totally accepting of his style. He's also suggested on Reddit that the movie will mostly ignore the larger Marvel Universe (aside from a Doctor Strange reference)

Stranger Things Has Alarming Staying Power
Yes people are still talking about Netflix's hit series. The latest online discourse is around whether or not the character of Wil is gay. The 11 year old actor who plays him, Noah Schnapp, spoke out about the speculation with a surprisingly mature response. Towleroad thinks it was a smart one but Mic thinks Schnapp is missing the point. Where do you stand on this?
Last Week's Must Read
Apologies that we missed it but you shouldn't! Vulture published a fascinating piece by Mark Harris that makes a thorough case for why distributors need to release more information about their VOD releases including grosses. There is lots to think about here

Nat: It's not Disney's Mulan that went with a white dude in the director's chair, it's Sony's Mulan. Which I hadn't even heard was a THING before now.
Negga gives twenty different beautiful performances in the photos. Edgerton delivers bearded stoicism again and again. Yaaawwwnnn
Volvagia -- thanks. fixed. a lot of the articles on this are very misleading! they should not be calling it a "live action remake of Mulan" because you can't remake Disney's film unless you have the rights to it and only Disney does. So it's clearly just a live action telling of the Mulan story. MUCH DIFFERENT.
While I know you're not a fan of horror, you might be interested in Gerald's Game, the Stephen King thriller about a woman trapped in her isolated home after something goes horribly horribly wrong, is finally filming.
Carla Gugino has the part, and it could be Award worthy stuff, ala Kathy Bates two Stephen King films (Not that Carla Gugino is anything close to La Bates!) But the character is trapped in handcuffs, and, in the book, has to figure out how to escape, all while dealing with some very traumatic memories of her past. It's a very internal book, so I'm not sure how it will work on film. But it has potential if done right.
On topic: Is it possible that we could have Best Actress and Supporting Actress go to African Americans? It seems quite possible.
The LOVING couple is just breathtaking.
And who on earth watches Stranger Things to debate whether the lost kid is gay or not. It's like when people thought that the writer of Imitation Game is gay at the Oscars.
Noah Schnapp's response was perfect and infinitely more mature than some of the ridiculous comments people have been spewing. There is so much talk about non-conformity, gender and sexual fluidity, and rejection of labels nowadays, so why is the sexuality of an 11-year-old boy on TV so important to know? Speaking from experience, I didn't come out until 22 (in the early '00s), and much of my childhood was a bundle of confusion and rejection and uncertainty, so it's perfectly understandable that this young kid's sexuality is ambiguous. Especially in the EARLY 80s where the public discussion of sexual orientation was hugely frowned upon.
The Loving Vogue shoot seems to me in very bad taste, putting that kind of gloss on it sort of ruins the underdog story, maybe it's my ukness, anyone agree.
Joel Edgerton is life.
Ruth Negga is so lovely. Go get that Oscar nomination!
