Cartoon Brew I didn't even know that there was ANOTHER new awards show but come to think of it there's always another new one, isn't there? If only "Avian Glam Nicole" was sitting on Allison Janney's shoulder in I, TONYA.

I love that I have lived long enough to see Peak Nicole Kidman become a thing again.

Or a gay intern at EW has just been promoted.

I'd choose Gotham or Runaways for the bottom 5 shows before Inhumans or Iron Fist. Oh, all four of those would likely be in my bottom 10, but I can at least understand how Iron Fist and Inhumans turned out like they did. Everything about how Gotham and Runaways are turning out is just baffling. In particular, Gotham has Barbara Kean and Runaways has their seeming desire to turn two issues of forward motion into an entire season.

Volvagia -- see I think Inhumans is atrocious. I ended up not so much hatewatching as train wreck rubbing necking for 8 hours. I have never stayed with a show that long that was that bad but I kept being like "but how is this possible that EVERYTHING is bad: production design, costumes, acting, screenplay, directing, EVERYTHING." to me is it some kind of terrible that has to be seen to be believed albeit without the joy of so terrible they're good things (like, oh, Ed Wood movies or that sorta thing.

That Mimi O'Donnell piece was harsh, terribly honest and beautiful.

Nat: Inhumans and Iron Fist are really bad. I did mention I'd view both of them as definite Bottom 10 contenders. But no one aspect of either made me rage as hard as Barbara Kean has in EVERY. SINGLE. SCENE. she's had after the end of Gotham Season 1. Nothing about either has made me seethe as much as Runaways replacing "Superhero version of The Breakfast Club" as their tone for a much more generic feeling modern teen drama.

Unrelated to this: Now that 3 new accusation of abuse and misconduct have surfaced against Dustin Hoffman, I wonder what Hollywood will do. If they expect to be "fair", they should act as they did with Kevin Spacey. Hoffman's career should come to an abrupt end.

December 14, 2017 | Unregistered CommenterMarcos

Hoffman's too old for his career to end abruptly. Opportunities to work are less for him because of age.

God's Own Country is a lovely movie. Glad to see it mentioned anywhere in a positive light.

Nat - is Manville going to be a contender? Will she grab a BAFTA nomination if the film rises between now and January? I'm intrigued - everyone apart from Metcalf and Janney in that category seems to be on shaky ground (even Blige and especially Hunter)...
