And somewhere in there the various bake-off and shorl list announcements.

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterMikey67

On December 6 didn't you mean Golden Globe nominations, not the Grammys?

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterMya

Mya -- not sure what you mean. It says Golden Globe nominations. (in bold). They're just one day apart.

December 2, 2018 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Excited for what Globe and Sag has in store for us in the next few days. And of course, I can’t wait for the Film Bitch awards!

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterBushwick

Portman in Vox Lux does she have any chance.

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered Commentermarkgordonuk

This is a plea for you to watch Paddington 2 before the Film Bitch nominations, because Hugh Grant deserves to be in Best Supporting Actor contention!

You can stream the film on HBO now and it is a joy to watch.

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanne

I don't think I'd like the film so I am not going to see it, but I'm loving all the Portman GIFs. lol

Just saw Widows. Debicki is my pet cause of the season!

Yes, Widows underperformed and Davis might not deserve a nod in this crowded Best Actress year (though she was excellent).

But in an equally crowded Supporting Actress year, no conversation is complete without Debicki. Foy's film underperformed, too, and she's still on everyone's list. (And I adore her, by the way.)

All of the Academy shortlists (nine categories) will be announced on the same day, this year. On Monday, December 17th they will release the shortlists for Foreign language film, Documentary feature, Documentary short, Animated short, Live-action short, Make up & hairstyling, Visual effects, Original score and Original song.

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered Commentermarco70go

marco70go -where are you getting that info? I haven't seen any official press release indicating that except for the Documentary press release.

December 2, 2018 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

Nathaniel, it was reported in the Hollywood Reporter.

I pretty much loathed Vox Lux, but if it provides us with some fun Port-memes, that'd be a minor redemption.

December 2, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterEvan

For December 10," SAG nomination voting ends" is the only event worth noting. The other mentioned is unnecessary.

December 3, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterEditor

when does AFI announce their top 10?

December 3, 2018 | Registered CommenterMurtada Elfadl

The Grammy nominations announcement has now been pushed back to Dec 7.

December 3, 2018 | Unregistered Commenterken s.

Nathaniel, took me a while, but found where it was reported; The Hollywood Reporter indeed, as Evan said. Here's the link:

Does anyone know why foreign is always just 9 films?? Why not 10, 12 or 15??

December 13, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterRod

"13 - Critics Choice Awards Ceremony " Does not meet the standard of 'important date', please remove for more accurate calendar. xox Ed.

December 13, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterEditor

Rod -- i dont know but it makes me crazy. as y'all know i hate inconsistency. It's the same reason why Makeup and Hair should be 5 nominees. Everything else is and it's not like *less* movies use makeup and hair artists than, say, costume designers or songwriters.

December 13, 2018 | Registered CommenterNATHANIEL R

I really hope that

ROMA - The Shoplifters - Burning - The Wild Pear Tree - Capernaum - Border - Birds of Passage - Sunset - Never Look Away

The Favourite - Suspiria - Fantastic Beasts 2

Suspiria - Border - Stan & Ollie - The Favourite

Suspiria

Apears on the shortlist of Foreign, Score, Makeup and Song respectelly.

let's all pray that Suspiria be remembered with nominations in Supporting Actress, Score, Song, Makeup and Costume Design.

December 13, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterJon

Wow, I just noticed that the BFCA ceremony is after the Globes this year.

Is that so they can change their winners last-minute to reflect Oscar momentum? :-P

December 20, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterHayden

I miss the gif of Natalie in Vox Lux!

December 21, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterEditor

I guess they want to allow their members as much time as possible to see all the films, which is commendable, but I wish Oscar voters had to vote before the Globes. Then the latter's dubious ability to influence the former would be limited to the nominations only.

December 29, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterDan H.

Yay!! Eagerly awaiting those FILM BITCH nominees

January 9, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterBRIAN

If you include the César Awards, why not Spain's Goyas?

January 9, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMarcos

Thanks Nathaniel. Very useful. Do you know when the second round of Oscar voting ends?

January 9, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

Knowing that it’s not possible for everyone to see everything each year in time for voting, but really wishing more people had been able to see THUNDER ROAD because Jim Cummings gives a performance of unraveling psyche on the level of Rowlands in A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE- so just thought I’d give it a last minute FYC for Film Bitch Awards.

January 9, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDean

Marcos -- the Goyas are already listed.

January 9, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterNATHANIEL R

WGA Awards on 2/17.

January 10, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMatty

Dean: Jim Cummings? Just to ask: Is that Winnie the Pooh's kid?

January 10, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterVolvagia

So Cooper and Gaga are going to have to choose between Th Grammys and The Baftas? I assume Cooper will attend The Baftas and Gaga The Grammys? What do you guys think?
