Yeo-jeong Jo was my MVP as well, but it almost feels unfair to call out one performer. This is a movie ensemble awards were made for. I can't think think of many ensembles who are truly working together more beautifully.
I also think the editing is vital to it's success. It seems to always get the timing just right, and the important beats are clear in the chaos of the party scene.
Thanks for the shoutout and for answering my question.
Charlize is getting early Best Actress buzz as a is Robbie.
Yes, "Parasite" is a well-made, insightful, well-conceived, well-acted movie with a message -- many messages, in fact. Yet it was also violent and depressing: If this is a "comedy," then I have no sense of humor. I could have lived my life quite well had I never seen it. I'm guessing it might not pay quite well to the older, stodgy "Green Book" Academy crowd.
Nathaniel, thank you for answering my question! It was very exciting! We're seeing Parasite here in Chicago this weekend and I'm psyched. Great podcast!
Thanks for answering my question! I realize it was sort of complex, but I loved your responses.
Random cinephile connection: I did actually talk about Before Sunrise with a stranger on a train in Europe. This was in 2002, so the subsequent movies were mere thoughts. No love story and I don't even remember her name (she was from Australia living in The Netherlands, that's all I can really recall) but I still remember it.
