13 Times I 'Jennifer Hudsoned' on Oscar Night

by Ginny O'Keefe

Jennifer Hudson [jen-nee-fer hud-son]
Verb
Definiton: to nod emphatically in agreement to something while simultaneously mouthing the word “yes”.

Here are 13 Times I Jennifer Hudsoned on Oscar Night...

1. When Queen Regina King’s name was announced as the winner for Best Supporting Actress and gentleman, Chris Evans, helped guide her to the stage.

2. When Regina King started speaking

3. When Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga gave the probably the most intimate performance of a song in Oscar History and I was blessed with this insanely hot shot on my TV.

4. When Spike Lee’s name was announced as the winner for Best Adapted Screenplay which then proceeded to him latching on to Samuel L. Jackson like a little koala

5. When Spike then called for us to choose love over hate in the 2020 election

6. When Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey walked out on stage together and we all knew why…

7. When Olivia Colman won for Best Actress and genuinely could NOT believe it actually happened

8. And then When Lady Gaga blew a kiss to Miss Colman

9. When Alfonso Cuaron won for Best Director and thanked the Academy for recognizing a not-so run-of-the-mill character in his film

10. When Gaga tried with all her might to straighten Rami Malek’s crooked tie (but in the end, the damn thing stayed crooked)

11. When the camera panned to beautiful Adam Driver and his wife, beautiful Joanne Tucker, reacting to hearing his name amongst the nominees for Best Supporting Actor

12. When Mahershala Ali made history AGAIN

13. And finally, when Spike Lee threw some great shade backstage when asked how he felt about Green Book’s Best Picture win.

When did you Jennifer Hudson on Oscar night?

LOL at this post. Cute!

I "jennifer hudsoned" when the oscar for best costume design went to Black Panther. The winner, Ruth E. Carter, not only made history being the first woman of color to win this award, but she gave an absolutely lovely and heartfelt speech. Her shout out to Spike Lee, who gave her one of her first jobs, and to Ryan Coogler, another influential black director, brought it all full circle and seemed so fitting (no pun intended) on so many levels.

I "jennifer hudsoned" when the oscar for best production design went to Hannah Beachler for her work on Black Panther. Her teary eyed emotional laden speech was simply beautiful and her "I did my best, and my best was good enough" will be one for the ages.

...when Angela Bassett enunciated literally every other word in her presenting.... someone let this lady read audiobooks!!!!

*Just for that bargain bin beanie, Grant should have won the Oscar
* Is Angela Bassett giving Colman snaps behind Gaga's kiss? Woman does have impeccable
taste.
*My memory is a bit foggy, but didn't the duo from Once perform on the telecast their year?
Because they didn't need to be nestled so close to feel more intimate.
*Malek's tie was as calculated as his whole campaign. And honestly, he seems like he may be a
robot devoid of any genuine emotions from the interviews I've seen.
*Lee with that "Great gowns, beautiful gowns" energy whenever asked about Green Book.
Perfecto.

Loved this. You crack me up.

Solid post, but it would have been funnier if you went meta and Jennifer Hudson’d after the performance of “I’ll Fight”.

Besides Lady Gaga not receiving this award from past Star Is Born Original Song co-winner, Barbra Streisand, I would’ve prefer to have seen 1 audience reaction shot of Gaga’s mother or her ‘soulmate’ sister, who were both mentioned at the podium-instead we must see Hudson’s reactions...

TOM - I too thought Barbra was going to either present the " A star is born' film clip or the Original Song award.

How great would it have been to see 'Evergreen' meet with 'Shallow'?

Benny, you’re right. So did Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy as their characters from A Might Wind when they sang A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow.

So true Robert G.! Maybe Gaga and Brad can be third most intimate, without anymore digging at least ha.

If Cats avoids being a disaster hoping Hudson is a standout to highlight.

I thought Hudson's reaction to Lady Gaga's acceptance speech was one of the cutest things to come out of the telecast. Just adorable.
